Boxed Set, Vol. V: Just a Hint of Denial and a Dash of Retcon

A topic for the discussion of Doctor Who, Arrow, and The Flash. Beware possible invasions of iZombie, Sleepy Hollow, or pretty much any other "genre" (read: sci fi, superhero, or fantasy) show that captures our fancy. Expect adult content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.

Marvel superheroes are discussed over at the MCU thread.

Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.

Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.

This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.

Bad/meh episodes include "Taking the Stone" ("the boringest episode that ever boringed"), "Home on the Remains," "Dream a Little Dream," and "The Locket."

I agree with these, and would probably incude Picture if You Will and My Three Crichtons on the list. And then I would list The Locket 2 or 3 more times, because, holy god.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Cool. Now I know which episodes to really pay attention to, and which ones I can focus on eating pizza and petting the cat while watching....

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

Yeah, I think I liked "Picture If You Will" even though it was kind of silly, and I was just sort of disappointed in "My Three Crichtons" for not being fresh and new with the concept.

And then I would list The Locket 2 or 3 more times, because, holy god.

Holy God, indeed.

I didn't mind "Picture if You Will" so much, but when an episode in which Ben Browder spends a significant amount of time running around wearing nothing but prosthetics can't pull me in for a rewatch, you know the story has to be pretty bad. And we are of one mind concerning the new dimensions of suckitude that "The Locket" discovered.

I kept wondering why his accent apparently got stronger the longer he lived away from his south'rn roots on that barren planet.

We are Buffistas. This isn't our first apocalypse. -- Pix

Well, there was a certain element of fannish squee of the J/A type associated with The Locket. If you squint a bit.

Thankfully, I didn't buy into it, but then I started watching the show with "Green Eyed Monster", by which point, well. I don't want to spoil Tommyrot.

I feel I should stick up for "My Three Crichtons", for reasons that have more to do with the way the writers tend to circle back to particular issues again and again, each time getting a bit more complex and wrinkly with them. M3C is just the second iteration of that particular issue. (If you count "Exodus from Genesis" the first, anyway...)

Oh, ha! I had forgotten about that.

Man, I feel like I want to do a whole rewatch now. But that's not happening any time soon. Too bad.

Because it scared away the mangy badger that was eating his face in "Jeramiah Crichton"?

And dear LORD do I love having Farscape talk again. If I was able to W&P without commercial breaks, I'd say tommyrot's induction would be a great time to do a Farscape W&P.

I know! The longer the strike went on, the more I was tempted to suggest a Farscape WnP. I didn't know how many other fans there were, lurking about out there.

"Fuck Western ideologically-motivated gender identification!" Sulu gasped, and came.

I've only seen Seasons 1 and 2, and then random bits and bats from later seasons. Because the DVDs are so bloody expensive. And for some reason, I have yet to find them anywhere in Bangkok - even though they have all manner of obscure things out here. Grr.

Meanwhile - have Pushing Daisies and/or Moonlight completed a first-half-season thing? Whatever you call it? The thing you have where suddenly the season is interrupted for ages?

'Cause if so, I'm hoping I can find them on DVD somewhere here....
