Boxed Set, Vol. V: Just a Hint of Denial and a Dash of Retcon

A topic for the discussion of Doctor Who, Arrow, and The Flash. Beware possible invasions of iZombie, Sleepy Hollow, or pretty much any other "genre" (read: sci fi, superhero, or fantasy) show that captures our fancy. Expect adult content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.

Marvel superheroes are discussed over at the MCU thread.

Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.

Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.

This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

I really admire how Alison being the comic relief doesn't undercut how sad her situation is.

I'm of two minds about Sarah's specialness being tied to her ability to have biological children - one the one hand, ugh, come on sci-fi get another goddamn trope, but on the other hand, producing cloned animals with the ability to breed is an actual science problem in the real world, so it makes sense that it would come up with humans. What we don't know yet is if Sarah is a surprise success story, or if all the clones were supposed to be sterile, and she's not because some guy in the lab went rogue and flipped on some genes he wasn't supposed to. (And then faked her death to get her out of the lab?) Probably the latter.

I figure we've got about five minutes before Kasima (sp?) thinks it would be more fun to be running this experiment than being a part of it.

I hope we bring Art into the inner circle soon, too. I'm not a fan of police investigations where you have someone to question right there but say "No, let's hold off on that" because the writers don't want that conversation to happen until the next ep.

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

Further - there was some discussion that they knew she wasn't Beth after samples were taken. How?

Guess we find out later, but I think it is related to her pregnancy.

A turkey in every toilet -- only in America!

What if John Hurt is Doctor 0...the one before John Pertwee

Do you mean the one before William Hartnell?

Also, please don't whitefont total speculation. There's no need for it and it's confusing.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

One thought occurred to me - Sarah could still be the original if she was an IVF baby and they cloned the others from her at the blastocyst stage. (It also occurred to me that it's silly for all the clones to have the same birthday unless they were all born by c-section, because pregnancy doesn't work like that. 9 babies conceived on the same day aren't all going to be born simultaneously.)

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

They don't have the same birthday though. At least not from their passports.

Oh, good - I must have remembered that wrong.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

What are their relative ages?

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Looks like they were all born March-April '84, according to the chart Delphine found in Cosima's secret stash of clone info.

Compassionately intolerant

Do you mean the one before William Hartnell?

That is what I meant, Jon. I can see the other prospects for where the character might fit in the timeline.

I just hope it is resolved in a way that makes sense. I'm so bad at keeping time travel straight.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

Have they gone back on tradition and retconned in the possibility that William Hartnell's Doctor wasn't his original incarnation?
