Boxed Set, Vol. V: Just a Hint of Denial and a Dash of Retcon

A topic for the discussion of Doctor Who, Arrow, and The Flash. Beware possible invasions of iZombie, Sleepy Hollow, or pretty much any other "genre" (read: sci fi, superhero, or fantasy) show that captures our fancy. Expect adult content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.

Marvel superheroes are discussed over at the MCU thread.

Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.

Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.

This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.

I am the fly who dreams of the spider

I think also the darker tone with Donna (I knew pretty soon after the Christmas special that she was known for comedy due to the skit she and David Tennant did for that children in need special) is that the Doctor himself is in a darker place and her specialty as a companion is reeling him back from his darker impulses with her no nonsense attitude and rationalization. Their basic premise that he needs someone, and she's it, and we're seeing the dark situations where he needs her and she pulls through for him, pulls him back from the edge. Whereas with Rose and Martha it was a lot of sharing the joy and wonder of the universe. Which is what kept them hanging on. And Donna needs to be needed, which is what keeps her hanging on. ???

Danger is my middle name, only I spell it R. u. t. h. - Tina Belcher.

Works for me, Juliebird!

I am the fly who dreams of the spider

Laura Roslin just broke me. Maybe because my own mother is wearing down and conversations with her are tending towards the "I just want to spend time together" and of course this auspicious weekend, and, well, I'm balling like a baby, and it's a little too close to home and not the fun "this fictional character broke me" kind of sadness.

Art Crawl!!!

And next week: Hera!

Who the heck has been taking care of her?

I want to know if we'll get Peg Leg Felix.

And I can imagine the reactions of the fleet to the basestar will be pretty interesting.

"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

She joined the show. Aren't you watching?

Sadly, no. I have the first 3 seasons on DVD; haven't watched more than random bits when I happened to be on Sci-Fi when it was on. For whatever reason, I haven't had the time+motivation. It'll happen eventually.

ION, I was very disturbed by the black screen instead of a preview for next week's Doctor Who. I have it set up to record on my DVR, but I'm wondering if something may pre-empt it now. Did anyone out there who saw the Sci-Fi airing get a preview?

Art Crawl!!!

I didn't get a preview, but I'm fairly certain we get new Who next week. (We skip Memorial Day weekend.)

I just finished watching the second showing of Doctor Who and I did get a preview for next week: Martha is back!

Art Crawl!!!

I think you can say that black font.

My feed was being kooky first time around - perhaps that's there was an issue and that's why we didn't get to see it first time around.

It'll be cool to have Martha back - I wonder if the giant surprise is dimension shifty Rose.

Art Crawl!!!

Over at TWOP people caught Shakespeare in Baltar's sermon - did you guys? I don't know Shakespeare well enough to catch a random quote; plus, he was difficult to hear.

"...and then Legolas and the Hulk destroy the entire Greek army." - Penny Arcade
