Aaack, catching up on EW from a week or two ago, I realized I missed the beginning of Pushing Daisies re-runs on Chiller. Looks like 2 weeks' worth (3/5 & 3/12). DVR set to start picking them up again beginning 3/19. Yay, Pushing Daisies on my TV!
Boxed Set, Vol. V: Just a Hint of Denial and a Dash of Retcon
A topic for the discussion of Doctor Who, Arrow, and The Flash. Beware possible invasions of iZombie, Sleepy Hollow, or pretty much any other "genre" (read: sci fi, superhero, or fantasy) show that captures our fancy. Expect adult content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.
Marvel superheroes are discussed over at the MCU thread.
Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.
Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.
This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.
I was a little disappointed that the teaser scene wasn't him and Diggle, but I'm sure that I can convince my friend to buy the flick and tell me if there are Diggle scenes.
Doctor Who series 7 teaser.
W/rt the DW trailer: OK, I think I'm the only person who ever got Warwick Davis confused with Ron Perlman.
Seriously, what is wrong with me?
So, Defiance, for anyone who was wondering, is basically SyFy taking a bunch of shows they canceled, putting them in a blender, and dumping the results out on Earth. It's got a little Caprica, a little Eureka, some Stargate, the design of the various aliens is a bit Farscape-esque, the tone is similar to Terra Nova and Revolution. And of course it's a sci-fi Western so there's Firefly in the mix. There's a family of rich powerful blondes giving off a Lannister/Malfoy vibe. Literally everyone in the background is someone you've seen in another show shot in Vancouver.
It's derivative enough that I called most of the reveals before they happened, but it's not a bad mix of tropes, and I do enjoy a good "a stranger came to town and the town has lots of aliens in it" tale.
Jessica, I just watched a couple of clips on hulu and your description is 100% spot on.
Huh.
I'm not at all interested in the game play aspect of the Defiance project, but I'll probably watch the show.
I'm going to give the show a chance, but I've been skeptical of it for awhile.
When does it start up? Or have I missed it already?
Sometime in April, I think? Setting it in St. Louis with its distinctive arch rather than one of the coasts is a big plus in winning over my viewership. As is showing Grant Bowler strip off his shirt to fight someone in the previews.
I am wholly unskeptical of Defiance, and Jess's description doesn't make me want to watch it any less. I don't necessarily mind derivative or predictable.
The game aspects don't interest me at all, although good for them if they can make that work, I guess.
Consuela, I can totally see the resemblance in that particular shot. Totally.
