A topic for the discussion of Doctor Who, Arrow, and The Flash. Beware possible invasions of iZombie, Sleepy Hollow, or pretty much any other "genre" (read: sci fi, superhero, or fantasy) show that captures our fancy. Expect adult content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.
Marvel superheroes are discussed over at the MCU thread.

Speaking of,
Beau and I started watching Fringe from the very beginning this evening. We saw the pilot and the 2nd episode.
It strikes me how pedestrian the writing is in the early episodes and what a fucking jackass Broyles is in the pilot. I mean damn he is a jerk. it slowly turns around, but that was amazing. Beau was startled (he watched the last 3 seasons with me, but missed the first 2 apparently) at how fucked up Walter was in the pilot. He barely believed that Walter was the one we saw in the finale.
Both Broyles and Peter were way jerkier in the pilot than they almost immediately became in the subsequent episodes.
He barely believed that Walter was the one we saw in the finale.
From "I thought you'd be fatter" to "You are my favorite thing" was quite the journey.

Well, he kind of wasn't the same Walter. Different timeline, but then he got some of that Walter's memories, maybe? So confusing.
All the Walters add up to a helluva character, though.
I think I may just have to go back and watch it again from the beginning. I've convinced a friend to do just that.
I grew to hate Lost, but gave JJ another chance with Fringe and I am so glad I did!
t,
hold on: isn't that the same Walter from the pilot? It was just future Walter.

When Walter said the boy gave him those memories (of Peter) I cheered because at that moment we had our blue-verse heroes back!
But he also remembers the universe without Peter, right? Though I guess he could just choose not to, as Olivia more or less did. So he's functionally the same Walter, but not exactly, to my mind.
Red-verse Broyles is the gold standard for heroes. Not having anything to do with the current discussion, I just felt like saying so.

Oh, it's certainly more complex than my statement above. Nothing undid season 4, but the essence of who Walter, Olivia, and Peter were in seasons 1-3 and the relationships they had were once again a part of them for the end of the series. That is what I was cheering.
