Boxed Set, Vol. V: Just a Hint of Denial and a Dash of Retcon
A topic for the discussion of Doctor Who, Arrow, and The Flash. Beware possible invasions of iZombie, Sleepy Hollow, or pretty much any other "genre" (read: sci fi, superhero, or fantasy) show that captures our fancy. Expect adult content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.
Marvel superheroes are discussed over at the MCU thread.
Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.
Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.
This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.
And Stefan missed
history
class to do so. This is not a show of subtlety, huh?
Yeah--I can't work out why I watch, myself. I ache for Jeremy to kill them all, and I know that's not going to happen, since he's on house arrest, but even he took out a random hybrid, instead of hunting monsters, not just the supernatural.
One of my friends and I have been watching through BSG
zuisa, you should also check out the prequel web-series
"Blood and Chrome."
I'll get there someday! (unless no knowledge of later series is required? which, it being a prequel, would stand to reason) We're just now to season 2.5, according to Netflix.
All I was trying to do online during episodes last night was see how old one of the actresses is and ended up finding out about 2 marriages and a death. It was traumatizing.
It takes place in between Caprica and BSG, following young Bill Adama during the first Cylon war. I watched the first couple eps, they were fun.
I figured you'd all approve.
Totally! In fact, after I finished watching Blood & Chrome, I missed BSG, so I decided to do a rewatch. It's kind of interesting, knowing how it all plays out and remembering my "Did that just happen??!?!" reactions when it was all new to me. Aw. I really did love that show.
Note to current and formers fans of SciFI network shows: the 20th Anniversary special airs tonight.
Thoughts on the Sci Fi Anniversary Special
A) I miss Eureka. It was my feel good SF show, with that basic optimism that scientific and technological advances might bring unexpected pitfalls and dangers but they are ultimately meant to improve people's lives and dammit we will make them do that. I don't have anything to fill that niche right now.
2) what is up with Ben Browder's hair? I actually think he's carrying it off, but it doesn't look like a personal choice, somehow.
iii) Anna Silk is prettier out of character. Huh.
and finally - I am really looking forward to Defiance! I'm not into the multi-platform of it all ( that is, I think it's a good idea but I'm not going to play the game or whatever) but I love humans and aliens building communities together and it looks gorgeous.
Ben Browder still had his Doctor Who Old West hair. . .
I agree that Anna Silk is prettier out of chaacter.
I am really looking forward to Defiance too and to (finally) getting to see Continuum.
I wondered if that was Who hair, but I didn't remember it being so...like that. Different out of context, probably.
Continuum does look good. It reminds me of something but I can't quite remember what.
I noticed that in addition to the Dr. Who hair (has no one learned the lesson that facial hair just Does Not Work on this man?!?) Ben was looking pretty shockingly rough compared to when I last saw him regularly onscreen. Either he's blown through his winnings from the genetic lottery or Francesca's illness has really taken a toll on him.
Kind of surprising to me that the SG-1 footage made me nostalgic, but there was no corresponding yearning for more from SGA. I think that crappy final season broke my attachment to the series.
Defiance
does look interesting. I love that it's set in St. Louis. And the alien lady with Grant Bowler reminds me of the alien character from Crusade.
