Boxed Set, Vol. V: Just a Hint of Denial and a Dash of Retcon

A topic for the discussion of Doctor Who, Arrow, and The Flash. Beware possible invasions of iZombie, Sleepy Hollow, or pretty much any other "genre" (read: sci fi, superhero, or fantasy) show that captures our fancy. Expect adult content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.

Marvel superheroes are discussed over at the MCU thread.

Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.

Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.

This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.

Other corners of the internet are telling me that a lot of people think now that Stefan was sired to Katherine.

I used to like Caroline a lot (well, not in season one, but once she became a vampire I found her interesting) but I spent most of this week's episode just going CAROLINE SHUT UP.

One of my friends and I have been watching through BSG whenever I'm home (which is so rare it took us an hour to remember what episode we left off on) and it's causing a lot of stress. Talk about a bleak hour of television! And then I accidentally saw all kinds of spoilers which was sad. But we're enjoying it tremendously. I figured you'd all approve.

Art Crawl!!!

I totally approve.

Maybe the thing that they don't know is that it matters if the vampire has feelings for the human.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Yeah, me too. Her transition from rape victim to totally sane bloodlust-free vampire was a bit...random, but as long as I don't think too hard about how a high school mean girl managed that feat of willpower and so many others seemed to either not be able or intrinsically uninterested in same. Just that annoying chick that was Stefan's best friend who went on to be an extortionist on 90210. Stefan can't do it as easily, and most other vamps don't seem to give a fuck.

However, I do think her point was correct, just...no one is going to listen. And Bonnie's story with the professor is incredibly paint by the numbers, so I hope they mix that up soon, even more than involving the Secret Circle mean girl.

The whole show seems very paint-by-numbers a lot of the time. I really wish I could just stop watching, but it's never going to happen. I will own up to finding Damon and Elena's relationship interesting. I just spend far too much time wanting to throw half the characters into an interrogation room and demand that they explain what is going on in their heads to me, because everyone is just insane.

I also loved that Stefan and Damon apparently took a cab from Mystic Falls to New Orleans.

And Stefan missed history class to do so. This is not a show of subtlety, huh?

Yeah--I can't work out why I watch, myself. I ache for Jeremy to kill them all, and I know that's not going to happen, since he's on house arrest, but even he took out a random hybrid, instead of hunting monsters, not just the supernatural.

The more I learn, the more I realize how little I know.

One of my friends and I have been watching through BSG

zuisa, you should also check out the prequel web-series "Blood and Chrome."

I'll get there someday! (unless no knowledge of later series is required? which, it being a prequel, would stand to reason) We're just now to season 2.5, according to Netflix.

All I was trying to do online during episodes last night was see how old one of the actresses is and ended up finding out about 2 marriages and a death. It was traumatizing.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

It takes place in between Caprica and BSG, following young Bill Adama during the first Cylon war. I watched the first couple eps, they were fun.

Totally! In fact, after I finished watching Blood & Chrome, I missed BSG, so I decided to do a rewatch. It's kind of interesting, knowing how it all plays out and remembering my "Did that just happen??!?!" reactions when it was all new to me. Aw. I really did love that show.
