Gwen: Demon, OK? The whole nine—cloven feet and horns and teeth. He wasn't wearing lamé though. Lorne: Yeah, the evil ones can't pull it off. It gets camp.

Boxed Set, Vol. V: Just a Hint of Denial and a Dash of Retcon

A topic for the discussion of Doctor Who, Arrow, and The Flash. Beware possible invasions of iZombie, Sleepy Hollow, or pretty much any other "genre" (read: sci fi, superhero, or fantasy) show that captures our fancy. Expect adult content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.

Marvel superheroes are discussed over at the MCU thread.

Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.

Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.

This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

In the comics, T Dogg was still a gentleman of high melanin? Don't they know there's a long and august heritage in the genr...okay, there's an old precedent. Whatevs. Still, would have been nice to see for a change.

If they film it so that Rick suddenly goes boinkers, having him bitchslap the undead on the way down isn't going to make a psychotic break look any more plausible, and it's a smidge less fun.

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

ita,

I cannot remember the character's name in the novels any longer, and there were more people of color as part of Rick's crew in the novels than there have been on tv - and, might I add, given more to do - but he was a serious, able-bodied Black man who was generally level-headed and took over the leadership position and did a decent job.

Not exactly T Dogg, in other words.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

In the comics, T-Dog is named Tyreese, and he's one of my favorite characters, and he has a really interesting relationship with Rick, and he doesn't really have much in common with T-Dog except for being black and favoring melee weapons over guns.

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

that's one of the reasons I have been upset with the tv's portrayal of T-Dogg.

Yeah, it was a wasted opportunity, in retrospect.

Well casting was bad. They had a weak actor in the role that set up the impossibility the character could achieve greater. Can you imagine if they had cast Andre Braugher? Michael Kenneth Williams? Harold Perrineau in the role? Can you imagine?

Harold Perrineau already has experience yelling the name of a lost child!
