Boxed Set, Vol. V: Just a Hint of Denial and a Dash of Retcon

A topic for the discussion of Doctor Who, Arrow, and The Flash. Beware possible invasions of iZombie, Sleepy Hollow, or pretty much any other "genre" (read: sci fi, superhero, or fantasy) show that captures our fancy. Expect adult content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.

Marvel superheroes are discussed over at the MCU thread.

Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.

Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.

This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.

Love is stronger than death and harder than sorrow. Those who practice it are fierce like the light of stars traveling eons to pierce the night.

Did Duncan refer to himself as a Highlander?

Well, I don't think he thought of himself as a sassanach.

Cracked me up to see Sean Connery pretending to be a Spaniard (with a Scots accent) whilst the alleged Highlander himself was clearly as Scottish as the Eiffel Tower.

More like Brussels sprouts, but yeah. At least Duncan could approximate a Scottish accent when pressed.

My explanation is pretty men with accents and swords.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

I saw some comedian do a riff on the director explaining to Connery that everyone else in the movie is Scottish, but his character is an Egyptian that's been living in Spain for hundreds of years. Then Connery responds, "All right" in a thick Scottish accent.

"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

I have a couple of questions regarding the Sarah Jane Adventures. I've been DVR-ing the US airings, but I haven't gotten around to watching them yet. Accroding to my listings, the first was an hour-and-a-half single episode. Since then each week (except for the Titanic Doctor Who night) has been listed as two half-hour episodes, though many (all?) of them seem to be two-parters (split over the weeks, it seems).

Was the first episode really one long episode? Was the show only airing as a half hour in the UK? And, finally, how many episodes aired in all (or are they still airing this season)?

Remember that the frontier of the Rebellion is everywhere. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward.

The first episode was an hour-long (in the U.K., without commericals), Christmas special. There were then 10 half-hour episodes, with 5 story arcs.

Thanks Tom! So I bet the 1 1/2 episode is just the full-length Xmas special (which I think was also why the Doctor Who Xmas episode was 1 1/2).

Hmm, they are going to be one episode light on their current schedule. I wonder what they'll do in it's place (or if they'll air one current Doctor Who en toto).
