I just tried programming my DVR via internet. Here's hoping it works...
'Beneath You'
Boxed Set, Vol. V: Just a Hint of Denial and a Dash of Retcon
A topic for the discussion of Doctor Who, Arrow, and The Flash. Beware possible invasions of iZombie, Sleepy Hollow, or pretty much any other "genre" (read: sci fi, superhero, or fantasy) show that captures our fancy. Expect adult content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.
Marvel superheroes are discussed over at the MCU thread.
Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.
Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.
This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.
I'm seriously disturbed by BBCA's promo pic for DW with the Doctor carrying a sexily comatose woman (possibly Amy).
Lost Girl: Grandfather? I didn't actually see that coming. I thought Trick was going to say that he was her Uncle.
What is it about companions dad's (grand-dads's?) becoming awesome?
Doctor Who had
both Argus Filch and Arthur Weasley from Harry Potter! And Rupert Graves, which I knew about. Yum.
Uh, I don't know if it's aired in the U.S. yet.
It's aired, Dana. Blackfont away.
Okay! I mean, I don't have anything else substantive to say, but still.
Except I kind of love the idea of Rory as a Weasley.
Now that you mention it, so do I.
Is this the picture, Julie?
How would you desexualise the scene? (I have a really hard time seeing Doctor/Amy, so this is only theoretical for me--her hair looks fabulous, but her upper body is entirely covered, and her miniskirt is canted away from the viewer. It's Amy unconscious--given they're not gonna fireman's carry, and that's her standard wardrobe, and that's not a sex look on 11's face--the only proper solution I see is not carrying Amy)
The Doctor looks like a robot version of himself in that picture.
I don't find the picture intentionally sexed-up, but I do feel that the form of an unconscious, helpless woman is sexualized by our society and it's hard to get away from that.
