Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I just saw someone's head canon that hadn't occurred to me--that Derek was a boyish woobie when he slept with Kate, and he was in love with her. Do we know how old either of them are supposed to be? And he's supposed to have been deep in the woobie love for her.

All is well that ends in pizza.

"Fuck Western ideologically-motivated gender identification!" Sulu gasped, and came.

Well, Derek was still at school when his family died 6 years prior season 1, and i believe the official line says he's 24 now, so he was 17/18 or so, whilst Kate was described as late twenties at the time. I do pretty much take it that he was pretty Scott-like in his gullible smittenness, and that this is why he's so jaded about Scott/Allison.

Cereal: I definitely agree with ita that Derek in his shack in the woods seems more smalltown than the Argents; they have the resources to casually take over the school, on top of their very family name having become a watchword for badass slayers of werewolves. Derek seems to have no resources or support beyond his immediate family.

Cats to become a rabbit should gather immediately now here

I just finished season one, and I think they significantly imply (via Kate's dialogue) that he was in love with Kate and she tricked him. He doesn't say much, so it could just be her interpretation. But that is what gives her the clue that Scott, not Jackson is the beta. She says something about "history repeating itself," and then realizes that Scott, not Jackson, is in love with Allison and therefor the 2nd beta.

Also, can I be spoiled on whether or not Lydia is a werewolf now (after the season one finale)

Ah, yes--I forgot history repeating itself. I will then go with the woobie interpretation, although I liked my rough and tumble interpretation just fine--much of the fanworks for this show that come across my dash are almost as woobie-dependent as Thor/Loki. And that one--well, just no.

Lydia is not a werewolf, but it's not clear what's up with her. Definitely some strange stuff.

Thank you!

I was also meaning to tell you that in my season one watch, I see more Jackson/Derek than Stiles/Derek. Stiles seems incredibly straight to me. Also, he seems to want Lydia, and since I like him, I want him to get what he wants.

I could actually make a case for Stiles/Danny--I find them amusing together. And that episode with "cousin Miguel" was more about Danny/Derek than Stiles/Derek, even though I've seen lots of plotzing about Derek in Stiles' clothes (which, to be fair--plenty plotzworthy).

But I think I got maybe 1 episode of Sterek off of everything up until today. Not overwhelming at all. I would make a case for "oopsie" Scott/Derek while Scott's on a break before Sterek.

I do find Danny and Stiles funny so far.

I also just remembered that I was so distracted that Scott had one of those old fashioned radio alarm clocks with the numbers which flip, rather than being digital. I feel like "poor" people on tv always have those clocks, but seriously, we didn't even have them when I was in high school and that was 20 years ago!

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

For poor people, Scott and his mom sure live in a spacious two-story house. In California. I think as a nurse Mrs. McCall would be bringing in a comfortable income, though of course nothing like Lydia and Jackson's obviously rich families.
