'Why We Fight'

Boxed Set, Vol. V: Just a Hint of Denial and a Dash of Retcon

A topic for the discussion of Doctor Who, Arrow, and The Flash. Beware possible invasions of iZombie, Sleepy Hollow, or pretty much any other "genre" (read: sci fi, superhero, or fantasy) show that captures our fancy. Expect adult content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.

Marvel superheroes are discussed over at the MCU thread.

Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.

Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.

This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.

Latest Lost Girl. (Episode with Sadie, or if there is more than one first one with Sadie.) Ciara agrees with me that Dyson acted like a jerk when he did not tell her about his deal with the Norn. Incidentally, in regard to a comment from many some days ago, I was not implying that the actress gave the impression of stupidity. I'm saying that Bo is written as being not too bright. It says something about Anna Silk's acting ability that one can't always see it. Actually she did the puzzled deer-in-the-headlights look quite well when it was called for in this ep. She has learned another facial expression; good on her for that. Le Nubian was right that she has grown as an actress as the series progressed. It is just a shame that she has not improved to the point where she could fairly be described as mediocre.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

I liked the Loki guy a whole lot, but I've got a big thing for tricksters.

Yeah I thought he was a good addition. Sadie was kind of fun too. Hope we see her again.

Love is stronger than death and harder than sorrow. Those who practice it are fierce like the light of stars traveling eons to pierce the night.

I was under the impression that the announcement for Eureka's ending came a year and change ago, and that they were ultimately given a significantly shorter number of episodes to wrap it up than originally anticipated. I know it has been ages since Colin mentioned working ON Eureka directly on Facebook/twitter. But I am pretty sure it is less than two years.

I have enjoyed this last season quite a bit. And when I think about how hard they must have worked to condense the story into the time allotted, I am even more impressed. I think the producers, writers, crew and cast did an excellent job of sending Eureka on its way with grace and affection.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Google shows that cancellation was announced in August of last year. That was at the beginning of filming the last season. They'd already started filming, I'm pretty sure. Colin was in BC.

I remember because the cancellation followed abruptly on the premature announcement of a 6th season pickup. At least with that much warning, Eureka got the chance to tie up some plotlines and plan a fitting final episode.

I was under the impression that the cancellation decision happened when they were shooting the season finale cliffhanger, and thus they had no chance to correct in mid-stream without the extra series finale episode.

Cancellation was announced a month before filming of S5 was scheduled to end. However, they knew before that, so that's a bunch of hooey for them to use as an excuse.

Hmm. that makes me even more disgruntled about the Holly Situation.
