Eureka: I was sad to see that as one of the last episodes of Eureka. It was a good episode, but it isn't the type of episode I want to remember Eureka for. There has been too much seriousness in this season, and I was looking forward to more fun.

A topic for the discussion of Doctor Who, Arrow, and The Flash. Beware possible invasions of iZombie, Sleepy Hollow, or pretty much any other "genre" (read: sci fi, superhero, or fantasy) show that captures our fancy. Expect adult content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.
Marvel superheroes are discussed over at the MCU thread.
Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.
Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.
This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.

That's exactly the feeling I was trying to get at in my post. It's weird. If we were coming up on a season (rather than series) finale, I'd be all sorts of psyched about that trend.
I think I would be sick to death of Holli even if the show were getting a 6th season. Where's Illyria when we really need it to get rid of someone for good?
There has been too much seriousness in this season, and I was looking forward to more fun.
Exactly my feeling.
I can't believe that I'm not even interested in the finale anymore.
I thought the last two eps were fantastic, and a huge relief after three or four lackluster standalones. The two-parter actually got me interested in seeing what they pull out for the finale.
I don't need the writers to go out on a particularly funny or goofy tone. Eureka has always been able to hit some poignant emotional notes, and I keep being surprised that many people don't seem to like or remember that. The io9 recapper is "that's not this show". The show that killed Stark? Had Henry wipe Jack? Killed Kim? It's always been that show to me, and I was not so much hoping it would go out that way as simply expecting it.
And those are the performances of Colin's I have always liked the best, for over twenty years now--the "thought you were gonna laugh?"ones. I've always considered it a characteristic strength of his. So if the last plotline of the first show that properly showcased his talent highlights that, I will be a happy little TheatreSports judge.
I agree with not hating the tone. In terms of Holli, I don't hate her, but I do think her potential was wasted early on. At some point, pretty early in her arc, she became a fantasy geek-girl prize for the geek boys to win. And this season she has been heavily damseled besides. And note that her deaths and illnesses tend to be seen as Fargo's tragedies, not hers.
I really enjoyed the last two episodes. I'm kind of holding my breath for the finale because I have no idea what's going to happen (and I like that).
Yeah, there have been few Eureka episodes I have not enjoyed. I wish Holli had been handled differently, but since next episode is the last one, it is way late to say that.
I have to say, I'm fucking astonished at how much I've liked Eureka. And I don't mean that because Colin's in it. Or because he's not ridiculously talented and kind of my favourite...well, precisely because, I guess. What in god's green earth were the chances of that Even counting the Degree debacle of season three, how come things worked out?
I'm still in utter disbelief. Like, the John Rogers thing I can kind of handle, but this is still incredibly weird.
