Boxed Set, Vol. V: Just a Hint of Denial and a Dash of Retcon

A topic for the discussion of Doctor Who, Arrow, and The Flash. Beware possible invasions of iZombie, Sleepy Hollow, or pretty much any other "genre" (read: sci fi, superhero, or fantasy) show that captures our fancy. Expect adult content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.

Marvel superheroes are discussed over at the MCU thread.

Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.

Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.

This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.

So apparently my Tivo caught two new episodes of Falling Skies.

And Colin Cunningham is still alive, yay! He's my favorite douchebag hairball on this show.

OK, now I'm reminded: this show is made up of people TSTL. WTF didn't they put a radio receiver next to him? Of course he's been chipped!

Calli: My people have a saying. A man who trusts can never be betrayed, only mistaken.Avon: Life expectancy among your people must be extremely short.

Lost Girl: Why did Trick decide not to tell the Ash about the Bounty hunter. This shit wasn't their fault - why take the blame? Also so Bo is the great and powerful Kissaboo? Even on this show I must have misheard the name. Also was I supposed to recognize the severed head the Ash was talking to? Or is it a mystery we will learn about later?

Lastly, this is one of those shows half of whose plots revolve around people failing to tell shit they have no reason not to tell. There is no reason for Bo not tell Trick about the danger of Fae extinction. There is no reason for Trick not to tell Bo the significance of her being the Kissaboo. (OK, we don't know that for sure - but it is like not telling her about Mommy dearest. Dollars to donuts there turns out to be no reason.) Lastly there is no reason for Dyson not tell his new/old girlfriend about how his affair with Bo ended. The truth would be better than what she is imagining.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

At least with most of the principals being fae there's better justification than usual for everyone choosing the highest-drama option.

Damn, Falling Skies really annoys me. It has so much potential, and it just pisses it away with bad writing. The characters (with the possible exception of Colin Cunningham's Pope, who is an unmitigated asshole and thus really entertaining) are bland bland bland. Blandly heroic or blandly supportive or blandly Black Guy or blandly Vietnamese Guy or blandly Love Interest.

Feh. They're spending a lot of money on it but it's all on the effects & staging, and not on the scripts. Such a pity.

Teen Wolf: Does anyone know who played the guidance counselor? She looked familiar.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Let me say, I love the spirit of abandon that Teen Wolf has. They're totes homoeroticism yay? every eroticism yay! and laughing at themselves. Dude, the bestiality riff...so freaking juvenile. Also? Amusing.

And Stiles is worth the price of admission every damned time. I hope Dylan O'Brien gets lots of work when this show is over.

(And, good god, if someone would just write me Dean/Stiles, I'd be their best friend forever)

Eureka:

The actor who played Allison's brother in this week's episode is her real life husband. I remember him when he was on All My Children.
