i'm going to play Devil's advocate here and say that while we've been told he does this, we've never actually seen it onscreen. at least to my recollection. he definitely uses them for blood and in Andie's case, blood and sex, but she's not exactly unwilling. Caroline was into him before any glamouring went on. he only really ever glamoured her to forget he was a vampire and that he was feeding on her. still deplorable, but not rape.

A topic for the discussion of Doctor Who, Arrow, and The Flash. Beware possible invasions of iZombie, Sleepy Hollow, or pretty much any other "genre" (read: sci fi, superhero, or fantasy) show that captures our fancy. Expect adult content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.
Marvel superheroes are discussed over at the MCU thread.
Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.
Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.
This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.
She was going to leave him when she found out he was a vampire. He glossed over that for her, and she stayed and slept with him under false, compelled circumstances. What do you call it?
eh...i see what you're saying. by that same token, we should call Willow a rapist because she made Tara forget that they had broken up and then had sex with her.
tiggy, many people said just that when S6 aired.
And the show dealt with the violations that Willow did of her relationship with Tara. It admitted it was wrong and abusive.
This show doesn't, and I'm startled by how many fans don't see that these women would not have had sex with Damon if he hadn't compelled them, therefore he magicked his way into their knickers, and that's not consensual.

Yep. And Tara left her. There were consequences.
ahh...wasn't posting here then and i don't really recall it being mentioned at the Beta back in the day. of course, i had stopped reading a lot of topical stuff then too because of the crazies at the board.

yes and no. i mean, when Tara figured out what had happened, she left. she still came back though.
you're using "women", but we've really only seen it happen with Caroline, which isn't to say that he hasn't done it before or after. just that we haven't seen it.
personally, he wouldn't have to use any magic on me. vampire or no.

How is that yes and no? Women return to abusive relationships all the time - it doesn't negate that abuse is happening, it just means that people frequently act against their own best-interest when they're in love.

Much like Owen using the alien whatsit in the pilot of Torchwood, then. Yeah - I'd call that rape.
