It's entirely possible, I just don't think we have enough information to assume that.

My observations about TW on BBCA:

Bisexuality, at the least, has been a part of Torchwood for a long time. ("He's very pretty. But not as pretty as you.")

Little girl -- freaky. Beyond that, I got nothing.

Tosh's was the story that got to me. Being blackmailed into spying by people that kidnaped her mother. (Though if I were in Jack's position, I'd have held out the possibility that she would be able to see her mother.)

Sexual tension between Jack and Ianto almost since word one. Though an ideal origins story (okay, not limited to an hour) would have said something about how Ianto got involved in London Torchwood.

Rhys was there, even if he didn't really have anything to do with the framing story. (Although in fairness, the framing story was very minimal.) I suspect that will be a dilemma for Jack down the road -- a civilian who not only knows but plays a role in Torchwood's activities.

I think that it's going to be more of a problem for Gwen. There was a throwaway bit with Rhys saying to Gwen "this could have been you". I think that he's really going to grok how dangerous Torchwood is, and want her to quit because of that.

Also -- Capt. John? Seriously unbalanced.

In fairness, it seems -- reading between the lines of past episodes -- that Jack has long-since relaxed his restrictions on Tosh. She was headed to a family reunion before being sucked back in time to the '40s.

That being said, I'm forced to think about the bit with Tosh seeing a vision of her mother at the end of last season -- I think it's officially unclear whether her mother died sometime between Tosh joining and the series beginning, or if she reacted so viscerally because she doesn't see her often, if at all. The events revealed in this episode certainly add a lot to that one.

I'd completely forgotten about that. Oh yeah, that does make things very interesting.

... and this is exactly the one I've been most dying to know. He's a local, who moved away to the big city, and then came back -- all of which is perfectly believable, of course, but we just never get any of the sense of local connections that we have with Gwen and Rhys: the families, the good or else vaguely embarrassing longtime friends. And part of that comes from the way they've played up the contrast between Gwen having a non-Torchwood life and everyone else pretty much not, but in that case I'd need to see Ianto not getting back up with his school friends. Running into them on the street at least once, and being too "busy". His family all getting sucked into the rift. Whatever.

Has it been established that Ianto's local? He's Welsh, but he could be from an entirely different town.
