Boxed Set, Vol. V: Just a Hint of Denial and a Dash of Retcon

A topic for the discussion of Doctor Who, Arrow, and The Flash. Beware possible invasions of iZombie, Sleepy Hollow, or pretty much any other "genre" (read: sci fi, superhero, or fantasy) show that captures our fancy. Expect adult content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.

Marvel superheroes are discussed over at the MCU thread.

Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.

Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.

This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.

Danger is my middle name, only I spell it R. u. t. h. - Tina Belcher.

Man, they have been watching a LOT of Supernatural.

Still, hasn't helped.

All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

Dear god, this is so freaking painful. And confusing. And boring. And painful.

Ha! I'm not watching, but this really made me laugh.

And none of us deserving the cruelty or the grace -- Leonard Cohen

OK the music at the end totally got me. Thumbs up.

We won’t stop until everyone is gay.

Yeah, the last 30 seconds was all that was worth watching.

Friends don't let friends read "Atlas Shrugged"

I caught the last bits ... but does he remember that Lana's parents are dead?

All is well that ends in pizza.

The Superman outfit in the fortress was probably Brandon Routh's, but the one at the end? Was Chris Reeve's, I bet?

The S was not an applique at the end.

I had a bit of trouble with the cartoon Superman. Really? All this and they couldn't do at least as good as Lois and Clark?

We are Buffistas. This isn't our first apocalypse. -- Pix

Did I miss where we noted that David E Kelley's Wonder Woman show did not get picked up?

Because I do think we dodged a bullet.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

Where did Tess' badass infusion come from? That was awesome.

I didn't know who the hell she was, and I thought that was awesome. Is she not normally that badass?

I had a bit of trouble with the cartoon Superman. Really? All this and they couldn't do at least as good as Lois and Clark?

Seriously! You could barely see him! And then he just went up and, uh, pushed Apokolips away and that solved everything? I don't even know. It seems the show hasn't changed its stance on logic.

Was that supposed to be a vow renewal or did Lois and Clark wait SEVEN YEARS to finish their wedding? What the fuck?

Yeah, the last 30 seconds was all that was worth watching.

That was pretty great, indeed. A nice way to end it.

No one clicks on ita's links.

Heh. I did click on that one. When ita posted it. And Consuela, I agree with you.

"What would it take to get your daughter to stop tweeting about this?"

The Superman outfit in the fortress was probably Brandon Routh's, but the one at the end? Was Chris Reeve's, I bet?

Dear Jesus, if this is true, I'll be watching that part and crying even harder.

OK the music at the end totally got me. Thumbs up.

Yeah, I went into this giving myself up to the cheese. I love Supe and have good childhood memories of the movies so when I heard the music from the movies, I played right into their hands. Sappy McSapperson.

I choose only to see the Lex parts. And the part where Lex sent Clark back to the barn to pick up a dildo and triggered a montage.

Oh how I missed the Clark and Lex Barn scenes. Twu Wuv.

Where did Tess' badass infusion come from? That was awesome.

I had seen an episode here and there enough to just know who she was. I'm fairly certain if she had been all River Tam like last night on the bad guys, I would have watched more. Maybe I just didn't get her good episodes, but I thought she really shone in that fight. Until she was killed.

Yeah, the last 30 seconds was all that was worth watching.

Honestly, I think you are probably right. But I went into it after not watching for years and was looking forward to some nostalgia. I felt manipulated and talked down to, but I didn't care. I got to see characters that I had enjoyed years ago and that I missed and got to smile as they all said goodbye. I let the sap flow over me and was rewarded with seeing their version of great Superman iconic moments. I'm sure that Christopher Reeve forever gave me rose colored glasses but I was happy to be reminded of those days and unapologetically cried as Tom Welling got closer to being the Superman that he should have been.

Plus long time Series finales usually make me cry.
