Why is it when they remake shows/movies, especially scifi shows/movies, they completely ignore the obvious subtext that made the original so successful?
Boxed Set, Vol. V: Just a Hint of Denial and a Dash of Retcon
A topic for the discussion of Doctor Who, Arrow, and The Flash. Beware possible invasions of iZombie, Sleepy Hollow, or pretty much any other "genre" (read: sci fi, superhero, or fantasy) show that captures our fancy. Expect adult content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.
Marvel superheroes are discussed over at the MCU thread.
Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.
Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.
This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.
Because they think that they're being "fresh" and "different". Sometimes (rarely), it works, though. The Hawaii Five-0 reboot is really good, and they've made some major changes. Basically, it's still set in Hawaii and they're still cops. But, a lot of major differences that work. Of course, the writing is excellent, which is also a major key.
I hear that Nikita reboot is awesome!
Marc Singer is on the new V?
Oy. I have no interest in the show anymore, but will have to find those scenes somewhere. Any pointers for where to begin looking?
I hear that Nikita reboot is awesome!
Yes! And last night, I watched this great episode that I had tivoed last week. Can't remember the writer's name -- Krista something, I think.
But I hear she's a real diva. Trashing the sets and breaking shit.
Yeah, well, that bitch left me hanging at the end of the episode, so she is ON THE LIST.
Mwahahahahaha!
BSG question: I have a friend in my book salon who is mainlining BSG; he is almost finished with Season 2. Where does Razor fit into the scheme of things?
IIRC, Razor was the view from the Pegasus, so after S2 would work. But, I could be wrong. (My sister has my S1-S3 dvds, and I'm going to bring them back when I see her after Easter.)
