Boxed Set, Vol. V: Just a Hint of Denial and a Dash of Retcon

A topic for the discussion of Doctor Who, Arrow, and The Flash. Beware possible invasions of iZombie, Sleepy Hollow, or pretty much any other "genre" (read: sci fi, superhero, or fantasy) show that captures our fancy. Expect adult content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.

Marvel superheroes are discussed over at the MCU thread.

Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.

Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.

This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.

Art Crawl!!!

Damn. But I'm glad it is going to be out there. The end of this week's episode was far too cliffhangery.

Also, AMC is going to run a The Walking Dead marathon on March 4th. And it will include sneak peeks of ii The Killing.

"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

I'm backed up on both Justified and The Chicago Code, and yet I stay caught up with V. I must be infected or something. Do. Not. Get.

A turkey in every toilet -- only in America!

For the record, I dropped my V season pass a couple of weeks ago. You're in this alone now, Frank.

Sadly, no. TCG and I are still both watching. This is all TCG's fault, who is not quite ready to quit the series yet.

Art Crawl!!!

Well, I'm still watching too.

Hmmm, maybe I can blame my cat.

All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

I don't remember dropping it from my queue, but it's not there and I don't really miss it.

"Cry havoc and let slip the boobs of war!" -- Miracleman

I really wanted to like V, but I hated the main character. I loved Morena Baccarin, but she wasn't enough. And then Jane Badler came, and I thought that would save it, but no. And then Marc Singer, but no. It's just too different (read: not as good) as the original and I think that many of us are feeling that.

hwæt

Why is it when they remake shows/movies, especially scifi shows/movies, they completely ignore the obvious subtext that made the original so successful?

Because they think that they're being "fresh" and "different". Sometimes (rarely), it works, though. The Hawaii Five-0 reboot is really good, and they've made some major changes. Basically, it's still set in Hawaii and they're still cops. But, a lot of major differences that work. Of course, the writing is excellent, which is also a major key.

I hear that Nikita reboot is awesome!
