They spend a ton of time making fun of that beard.
It's really fun, at the beginning someone is all "You know, sometimes on shows, everything just aligns. The acting, the writing, directing, scenery, costumes, and it makes a magical perfect episode. This is...... not one of those moments."
One of the actors admits to having never actually watched the entire episode before.
People have been telling me that seasons 2 and 3 are better than 1, but I've been very much enjoying 1, so... yay!
there's no doubt that season 2 and 3 are better than 1. it gets WAY more arc-y.
I love reading reactions of newcomers to old favorites. It usually puts me in the mood to watch the shows again myself.
this. i've been meaning to do a Farscape rewatch for a while now. maybe now that everything is on mid-season hiatus i'll get on it.
Seasons 2 and 3 of Farscape are my favorite 44 hours of television. Season 1 only just begins to reveal the full potential of a show where the writers really let themselves go wild and the cast and crew stepped up to meet the writing.
It's after about episode 16 in Season 1 that the show breaks out of the "just another sci-fi show" mold and goes off in its own direction. It's still riffing on classic SF concepts, but it becomes the anti-Trek in many ways, and really pushes the limits of what was considered acceptable in serial televised SF. Basically, everything has consequences.
Well, and it was made in Oz and those people have no fear of bodily fluids.
The way I describe Farscape to other people is, "everything that you didn't realize was missing from Star Trek."

I never fell for Farscape the way you guys did. And 90% of that was Rygel. I'd have punted him out an airlock in early S1.
I really want to do a FS rewatch now, but. 'Tis not the season to, well, do much but work, sadly. Poor Cratchetty me. I even have those gloves with the holes in them - they're awesome, actually.
I finally watched the latest Fringe. Ouch. But realistic. I mean, what I'd imagine to be realistic if I'd been stuck in parallel universe and came home to a bunch of people, and one in particular, who'd been fooled by FauxMe (eved though I'd mostly fooled my parallel people. Whatever. Fair has nothing to do with it). And... she touched all my stuff. All. New. Stuff.
The reanimation line was creepy. Lord, the dance scene. Yikes. I was impressed by the actor's moves, though. I was trying to figure out whether she was really being manipulated by wires or whether she was doing it. Or a combination, I guess. Anyway, it was super effectively creepy. And when she woke up, the terrified confusion and just sort of blankness. Shiver. Poor thing.
I liked Rygel. So unapologetically awful, setting off the rare moments of likeability.
Rygel makes me laugh. I actually enjoy all of the main characters, and that's impressive, I think.
You all should rewatch! That would be fun for me. I'm glad you guys are enjoying me posting reactions, because I've got a lot of show left.
I just watched 1x16, so I'm glad it starts to really take off now.
