I was actually pissed with Vampire Diaries this week. The othering of black people is fucking ridiculous.
Fringe! I got nothing coherent.
Willow ,'First Date'
A topic for the discussion of Doctor Who, Arrow, and The Flash. Beware possible invasions of iZombie, Sleepy Hollow, or pretty much any other "genre" (read: sci fi, superhero, or fantasy) show that captures our fancy. Expect adult content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.
Marvel superheroes are discussed over at the MCU thread.
Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.
Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.
This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.

Fringe! OMG!
Alt!Broyles! EEeeee! Nooo!
I still don't get why the alt versions of Broyles and Charlie are pretty much the same people, and alt!Olivia is a pretty 2D spy and assassin. Do the writers think they risk alienating our affections if they make her sympathetic?
I would like to know how they magicked the body back from Boston to NYC in the ten minutes between the time Olivia arrived back and alt!Olivia left.
I don't think Fauxlivia's meant to be 2D. Harder-assed, but the reveal that she was taking the pictures of Peter back with her seemed to be to show she had a softer side.
Even though she has a man on the other side.
Fauxlivia's got a man at home!
Maybe they have an open relationship. Or Pacey was their agreed-upon exception?
Ha!
Discussion from yesterday has me wondering how is it that not only does everyone have their double in the AU but their double is not just a look-a-like but has a similar (or the same) job and the same name.
TVD: Yes, two things TVD needs: a black person who is NOT a witch and a witch who is not black. Were the books like the tv show in this respect?
TVD: I feel like the only reason all the witches have been black is that they want to make it Very Apparent that they are all related. As though there aren't so many witches, but the Bennett family and their descendants definitely are. I'm not trying to defend this, or anything, but.. that's probably what's happening. But the show absolutely needs someone black who isn't a witch and maybe introduce some non-black, non-Bennett witches.
I don't think the books really have too many similarities to the show at this point, but I haven't read them, so I have no idea.
I still really adore the show though. I love that none of the girls sit around and wait for men to save them and everyone is reckless in their desperate attempts to protect the people they love.
I'm also sure this was probably unintentional, but I laughed for a while at how this week it took both Stefan and Damon to roll away the stone blocking the tomb, but in the last episode Caroline did it all by herself. Young vampires are supposed to be far weaker than older vampires, but Caroline is apparently just far too awesome for that.
Tiggy, it's one of my only must-sees every week at this point too.

"Ok Fringe version of Awesome from Chuck, you go cure plague in wherever and I'll jet to the alternate universe and convince myself it's important to my mission that I do Pacey."
ETA - yes, OMG Fringe.
in the books, Bonnie is a fair skinned redhead. so...no, sumi. there's also no time spent on Bonnie's heritage. the books and the show are so incredibly different, which is a good thing. the books are pretty terrible. i was kind of amazed they used the first book to convince someone it needed to be a tv show. i'm guessing they said something to the effect of, "don't worry. we're going to change a hell of a lot and actually make this interesting."

that cracked me up too. basically they're confirming that Caroline's a BAMF.

it's just so entertaining! i used to only like Damon. now Caroline is being awesome and Tyler is getting depth and Jeremy's stopped the constant whining. i also have started enjoying Stefan and Elena...when they're not together. (still miss Mason. still want to know what the tattoo is on his back! last night was a perfect opportunity to show it to me!)
convince myself it's important to my mission that I do Pacey
I would have no trouble convincing myself of that.
for morale
