Torchwood tonight (the BBCA broadcast) was pretty frelling devestating. Very THE BODY in some ways, though from a completely different perspective. Jonah's Lovecraftian state was both creepifying and heart-breaking. Intersting name choice too. What good is it to survive the belly of the beast if you are permanently damaged mentally in the process.
'Sleeper'
Boxed Set, Vol. V: Just a Hint of Denial and a Dash of Retcon
A topic for the discussion of Doctor Who, Arrow, and The Flash. Beware possible invasions of iZombie, Sleepy Hollow, or pretty much any other "genre" (read: sci fi, superhero, or fantasy) show that captures our fancy. Expect adult content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.
Marvel superheroes are discussed over at the MCU thread.
Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.
Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.
This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.
"Adrift" (TW) gutted me. I have some problems with the behaviour--mostly on Jack's side, but it's mostly that I want to smack him around, as opposed to feeling he was badly written. He needed to have cut Gwen off at the pass. Because he knows exactly how far she's going to take it. That's why she ended up on the team in the first place, wasn't it?
And his flippant invitation to her to join him and Ianto's sweaty manmeat--so terribly terribly cruel. Ianto's walking an interesting line, being with him and being honest to the rest.
Now that I think about it, Ianto hasn't been in Jack's confidence for that long, right? I mean, they weren't together when the series started, because they couldn't have gotten together until after the cyber-chick episode. He does seem to know every little thing, though.
No retcon for Nicky. She's not just seen something disconcerting, like a blowfish-headed alien. She's had her heart broken and hard and very personally. And they're letting her walk away with that? Hmm.
DW 4.01 ("Partners in Crime") : Well, that was nice enough! I have no great quibbles, no overwhelming love. But even though I started to guess that was Rose there at the end, I found it very chilling for some reason. Her vanishing into thin air? Not helping things. I wonder if Donna will see her likeliness at some point and remember her. Probably not.

Define "together."

he was thwarted by ianto. If Ianto hadn't given Gwen the GPS system, she never would have found it. He thought that he didn't need to cut her off.

well, before that, Ianto was the "errand boy". He knew Torchwood's secrets. I mean, he's the one who would have arranged for the boats and hired the staff at the island.
For some reason I assumed they hadn't been groiny until after Cyberwoman. Is that not supported by the text? Is it explicitly contradicted? (TW2x12:Fragments spoiler) at the very least we know he joined more recently than Owen or Tosh, so still a shortish time of familiarity...
It's definitely not explicitly contradicted. (Not that I've spent time thinking about this.)
I am pretty much 50-50 on it. I can easily believe either situation.
We don't know for sure. We do know that something happened before the stopwatch conversation, and they were comfortable enough to get right to it instead of hemming and hawing.
Man, that was a heartbreaking episode of Torchwood and this is in spite of the very sucky BBCA feed that kept cutting out - for example - during Jonah's speech with his mum. (I am rerecording the 2 am airing. I hope that the feed improves.)
Just wrenching.
Doctor Who 4.1: I enjoyed that a lot. Loved the friendly little Adipose babies. The scene where the Doctor and Donna finally catch up with one another was a classic. And ROSE!!! I knew she was going to show up at some point, but I'm glad they got her in so early.
I'm now more optimistic that Donna isn't going to get on my nerves as much as I'd feared.
When does S4 start in the States?
Not soon enough, if you ask me. Tho' I gather it's getting advertised as showing soon-ish on SciFi, so I have hopes.
