'The Message'

Boxed Set, Vol. V: Just a Hint of Denial and a Dash of Retcon

A topic for the discussion of Doctor Who, Arrow, and The Flash. Beware possible invasions of iZombie, Sleepy Hollow, or pretty much any other "genre" (read: sci fi, superhero, or fantasy) show that captures our fancy. Expect adult content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.

Marvel superheroes are discussed over at the MCU thread.

Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.

Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.

This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I am mostly lying about the scandalous stories

He said ita was his first acting teacher.

Me, I discovered that boy. Sure, someone else was going to notice him next. I just saw him first. Then someones who saw him next did all the hard work.

making her home at bronzebeta.com since 2001

Saw Colin Ferguson at the Dragoncon this past weekend too. He was everything I expected him to be. Gorgeous, funny, and super nice.

What is even happening?

For Ferguson, who's becoming one of the movers and shakers at the network, the big ratings may help his chances when 'Fossils,' his first made-for-TV directed film, premieres on the Saturday schedule later this fall.

Dearest ita,

I am totally not picturing CFerg moving and shaking. Swear.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Sonic Screwdriver Wiimote helps you save the universe with your Wii

eta:

Attention, Dr. Who fans: there's an official Sonic Screwdriver Wii controller coming, one fully licensed and signed off on by BBC Worldwide. Designed to be used with the upcoming Dr. Who: Return to Earth being released for the Wii this Winter, it's a lovingly detailed little accessory that'll go perfectly with that Dalek model you have next to your couch.

If you're more of a portable gamer, there's also a DS stylus modeled after the Sonic Screwdriver coming this fall for the Doctor Who: Evacuation Earth DS game.

I'm curious - how do Wii controllers communicate with the Wii game console? Radio waves? Infrared? If radio, is it some proprietary means? or is it, say, Bluetooth?

hwæt

The WiiMote uses bluetooth to communicate with the console. It passively receives IR signals from the sensor bar to help triangulate its position.

The WiiMote is easily hackable and can be interfaced with almost anything. For example, here's a program that lets you use it as an Apple mouse: [link]

It's funny - just an hour before reading about the Wii Sonic Screwdriver, I ordered two Sonic Screwdrivers from Think Geek and a very skinny Arduino with the idea of converting a Sonic Screwdriver into a TV-Be-Gone and universal remote.

From Googling, I saw that other people have had this idea but I have not found any successful implementation of this.

I had also planned on seeing if I could fit a bluetooth modem into a Sonic Screwdriver, but now I can just buy the Sonic Screwdriver Wii controller....
