Buffy: You tossed that vamp like he was a... little teeny vamp. Riley: You wanna go again? C'mon. I bet this place is just teeming with aerodynamic vampires.

Boxed Set, Vol. V: Just a Hint of Denial and a Dash of Retcon

A topic for the discussion of Doctor Who, Arrow, and The Flash. Beware possible invasions of iZombie, Sleepy Hollow, or pretty much any other "genre" (read: sci fi, superhero, or fantasy) show that captures our fancy. Expect adult content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.

Marvel superheroes are discussed over at the MCU thread.

Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.

Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.

This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Sonic Screwdriver Wiimote helps you save the universe with your Wii

eta:

Attention, Dr. Who fans: there's an official Sonic Screwdriver Wii controller coming, one fully licensed and signed off on by BBC Worldwide. Designed to be used with the upcoming Dr. Who: Return to Earth being released for the Wii this Winter, it's a lovingly detailed little accessory that'll go perfectly with that Dalek model you have next to your couch.

If you're more of a portable gamer, there's also a DS stylus modeled after the Sonic Screwdriver coming this fall for the Doctor Who: Evacuation Earth DS game.

I'm curious - how do Wii controllers communicate with the Wii game console? Radio waves? Infrared? If radio, is it some proprietary means? or is it, say, Bluetooth?

hwæt

The WiiMote uses bluetooth to communicate with the console. It passively receives IR signals from the sensor bar to help triangulate its position.

The WiiMote is easily hackable and can be interfaced with almost anything. For example, here's a program that lets you use it as an Apple mouse: [link]

It's funny - just an hour before reading about the Wii Sonic Screwdriver, I ordered two Sonic Screwdrivers from Think Geek and a very skinny Arduino with the idea of converting a Sonic Screwdriver into a TV-Be-Gone and universal remote.

From Googling, I saw that other people have had this idea but I have not found any successful implementation of this.

I had also planned on seeing if I could fit a bluetooth modem into a Sonic Screwdriver, but now I can just buy the Sonic Screwdriver Wii controller....

Yeah, I watched The Prom yesterday and it still makes me teary.

Oh my God, that episode makes me cry every.single.time I watch it. More than once. I suddenly regress into a teenybopper and wallow in the angst.

And I wasn't even previously angsted with the sewer talk, I flipped to it about 3/4 of the way through.

Let's see, that's past the "I can't breathe, Will" sobbing on the bed with Willow scene, right? and moving on to the "I've gotten past the "Buffy gets one perfect high school moment"" part. Leading up to the vote of School Protector (after killing the hell hounds, alone in the dark and having to dress for the prom in a ladies' room somewhere, she finally gets validation from all the obnoxious kids who've been ignoring her for years!), and then the surprise appearance of Angel in a tux, and the slow dance to Wild Horses, and then there I am, destroyed again. Yes, that episode just does terrible things to me.
