Boxed Set, Vol. V: Just a Hint of Denial and a Dash of Retcon

A topic for the discussion of Doctor Who, Arrow, and The Flash. Beware possible invasions of iZombie, Sleepy Hollow, or pretty much any other "genre" (read: sci fi, superhero, or fantasy) show that captures our fancy. Expect adult content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.

Marvel superheroes are discussed over at the MCU thread.

Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.

Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.

This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.

A little bit. More shirtless boys, though, so that was a win.

I liked the misdirect with the shady looking booster.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

My main takeaway was to wonder where the Myka/HG Wells fic is. I do feel ashamed of myself, so no need to judge too hard.

The more I learn, the more I realize how little I know.

They missed their chance to make an Obelix allusion.

Interesting, Vortex. Written before last night. She must feel pretty Kripked. AO3 has shit-all W13 fic. I wonder if there is an LJ community.

speaking of, this is a good place to ask. I wrote a CM fic and posted it in a particular CM community. Then, I was talking to a friend and mentioned that I was writing fic again, and she said "oh, yeah, I saw a link on another CM community"

I was a little miffed, I would think that you would at least ask before linking a fic to a different community? Or do I have boundary issues?

I think it depends on the community, Vortex. Some exist to do just that--cherry pick recommendations. Some exist to help people find specific fics they've been looking for. Once it's out there, it's out there. Being recced (I'm assuming that's what happened) is a compliment.

I haven't trusted science since I saw the film "Flubber."

Depends what the community is. Many fandoms have newsletters, which post a round-up of stories, art, meta, etc. that have been posted during a specified time period.

It was just a link, right, and not a re-posting of the story?

That's actually exactly what it was. I guess I was just surprised that they linked without asking. The response I got when I asked about it was basically "it's on the internet, so it's not yours anymore. Be happy for the free publicity." Yes, she actually said 'free publicity'.

The mod explained it better and said that she could see why I wouldn't want that, but just put a disclaimer about linking. Which is fine.

It's wierd, because I wouldn't have minded at all if they had asked (and would have been flattered), or if someone had linked it here or in their private LJ. I'm not quite sure why I'm bothered by it.

I used to run an LJ fandom newsletter, and I never asked before linking - there were too many fics to manage asking and waiting for an answer and etc. If somebody put a disclaimer to not link I would absolutely follow that, but public fic/art/meta is generally considered fair game for newsletters.
