US Doctor Who: Loved it! The actor who played Vincent was simply brilliant in the role.
A mini-guide to the artwork featured in the episode.
And Seven is my second-favorite Classic-era Doctor. He brought the mysterious and enigmatic side of the Doctor out in a really wonderful way. Also, he had Ace as his companion, who's in my top three Classic companions (with Tegan and Sarah Jane).

Doctor Who proves that art and compassion both remain mysteries
The reviewer thinks this is the best episode of the season so far. And I totally agree with this:
And then there's the ending, which is one of the most amazingly brave things I've ever seen. It could so easily have been a horrible, cheesy disaster — the Doctor takes Van Gogh forward to the present, so he can see how much people come to admire him. But it doesn't feel cheap at all — it's the artist's ultimate dream come to life, being able to see yourself admired by strangers long after you're gone. A kind of immortality. I can't imagine watching the scene where Nighy explains Van Gogh's stature to the artist himself without getting choked up.
It's brilliant how much he's clearly loving that.
I'm just left wondering whether or not he got the former chief of police drunk and date raped him before the murder.
out of context, this isn't particularly funny, and yet I'm laughing my ass off over here.
I agree, when Krakow showed up I said to myself: "well, I guess we found the warlock."
So, is the Gates worth a try?
Matt Smith and Orbital, Glastonbury 2010.
Oh, man. Wow. He's a giant dork and it's awesome.
Random side note: Though Van Gogh painted many of his most famous works during his time in Arles, France, none of his works are on display in the town. Or weren't, as of 1996. But you can see works of art inspired by Van Gogh there - [link]
sumi,
so...it's pretty Desperate Housewives like with less humor. I'm watching it, but I am not sure I would tell another person "hey, this is a good show!"
Right now, my main investment is in seeing how many supernatural "people" they can cram into this gated community. Last nightI learned there is a succubus walking around and that was good enough for me to get me to next week.
I watched the pilot of The Gates(mostly for Luke Mably and Rhona Mitra) and was bored to tears. the supernatural Desperate Housewives description is apt. the review they're using to promote the show saying it's True Blood crossed with DH is way off the mark though.
