Boxed Set, Vol. V: Just a Hint of Denial and a Dash of Retcon

A topic for the discussion of Doctor Who, Arrow, and The Flash. Beware possible invasions of iZombie, Sleepy Hollow, or pretty much any other "genre" (read: sci fi, superhero, or fantasy) show that captures our fancy. Expect adult content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.

Marvel superheroes are discussed over at the MCU thread.

Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.

Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.

This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Some people don't mind getting left, is all I'm saying, and he kinda advertises who he is on his sleeve.

You should know I'm a big deal in the Resistance.

I think if you're inexperienced you might mistake Jack's manner for genuine interest. But perhaps Alonso can take care of himself.

It is genuine interest. Let's give him that. It's just not special interest.

Plus, it's been implied that Jack's behavior is normal for the time period from whence he comes. Maybe that's close to when Alonso's from.

No, I don't think I will - me, quoting Captain Steve Rogers, to all of 2020

JACK DIDN'T (quite) BREAK IANTO'S HEART.

No, you're absolutely right. He did not break Ianto's heart.

He stopped it.

"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

He stopped it.

Technically, it was the aliens who stopped it.

"We're all stories, in the end. Just make it a good one, eh?"

They (you) called them a series, we translate as season.

Is good point.

True but maybe he's learned to be more gentle since CoE.

He certainly looked lonely and quiet in that bar. (And I hope he had a least a bit of a thing with Alonso. That pairing seemed like a great idea.)

Fair point.

It was Jack's idiotic "If I act all cool, the 456 will just piss itself and fly away" plan that prompted the aliens to stop Ianto's heart. And, you know, hundreds of other hearts.

That was my only disappointment with CoE. After all the fighting and ranting and conniving to get the gov't to let Torchwood "do its thing", Jack's plan was "I will show them my mighty mighty wang and they will flee in titillated terror." I did appreciate, though, that the 456's response was "Who now? Nevermind, we're bored already...eat deadly virus. Also, your plan was stupid and sucked. Who do you think you are? The Doctor?"
