I don't fancy spending the next month trying to get librarian out of the carpet.

Boxed Set, Vol. V: Just a Hint of Denial and a Dash of Retcon

A topic for the discussion of Doctor Who, Arrow, and The Flash. Beware possible invasions of iZombie, Sleepy Hollow, or pretty much any other "genre" (read: sci fi, superhero, or fantasy) show that captures our fancy. Expect adult content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.

Marvel superheroes are discussed over at the MCU thread.

Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.

Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.

This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.

Woe to the fucking wicked.

re: the link I just want an angel with its hands over its face.

I also rolled my eyes at jumping the Doctor. I'm glad that we're dealing with the cracks this early. I hope that there's something there (for whatever value of "there" you like) that we're not guessing, as it's more fun that way.

"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

I LOVE that Chuck had the wherewithal of casting Udo Keir. Well, and Fred Willard and Swoosie Kurtz too, but seriously. That's some deep Euro-sleaze casting.

I agree that the tiger was endangered and majestic, but... I was mystified by the amount of people in this episode who were able to outrun a tiger.

I just wish it had been a cheetah and squash court had been involved.

Doctor Who: Coincidentally, the date which River's computer showed as being the start date of the cracks, the date of Amy's wedding, is also the transmission date of the last episode of this series .

Actually, I'm pretty sure it isn't a coincidence. I like it when they take the trouble like that.

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

Terry Pratchett says this about Doctor Who:

Doctor Who is ludicrous and it breaks most of the laws of narrative.

And more:

People say Doctor Who is science fiction. At least people who don’t know what science fiction is, say that Doctor Who is science fiction. ...

Doctor Who on the other hand had an episode wherein people’s surplus body fat turns into little waddling creatures. I’m not sure how old you have to be to come up with an idea like that. The Doctor himself has in recent years been built up into an amalgam of Mother Teresa, Jesus Christ (I laughed my socks off during the Titanic episode when two golden angels lifted the Doctor heavenwards) and Tinkerbell. There is nothing he doesn’t know, and nothing he can’t do. He is now becoming God, given that the position is vacant. Earth is protected, we are told, and not by Torchwood, who are human and therefore not very competent. Perhaps they should start transmitting the programme on Sundays.

I wonder how much the Weeping Angels are going to be. I suppose there's shipping costs involved....

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

I was mystified by the amount of people in this episode who were able to outrun a tiger.

handwave She was a "tame" tiger, probably used to people hanging around; if she'd really been mad that Chuck and Sarah were in her room, she wouldn't have fallen asleep with them there. So, that's why they could outrun her - she wasn't really trying to catch them, she was just playing chase. That's what I say.

That was a gorgeous and very calm tiger.

Duly noted. Seska, you read this?

(Translation for others: Seska and I started a mostly academic discussion on (what we feel as) the lack of narratives to tell a story in a way which represents a life).

But Morgan outran her? Going upstairs? Alright, alright, I'll join you in handwaving. Hard enough to cool off Philadelphia, but I'm waving my hands.
