Wesley: We were fighting on opposite sides, but it was the same war. Fred: but you hated her…didn't you? Wesley: It's not always about holding hands.

Boxed Set, Vol. V: Just a Hint of Denial and a Dash of Retcon

A topic for the discussion of Doctor Who, Arrow, and The Flash. Beware possible invasions of iZombie, Sleepy Hollow, or pretty much any other "genre" (read: sci fi, superhero, or fantasy) show that captures our fancy. Expect adult content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.

Marvel superheroes are discussed over at the MCU thread.

Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.

Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.

This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.

Punishingly Intricate

That said I don't know if the creative team will be the same next year due to the whole Who shutdown thing.

Huh what now? Is this something everyone knows about but I missed due to skimming to avoid being tempted too much by the Torchwood whitefont?

Also, this was in my city's free weekly today:

Haven't read the article but I love the illustration!

Compassionately intolerant

For some reason unknowable by me, the various streaming versions of TW 2-12 fragments that I have perused all get hung up. I've tried surf the channel and tv okay. It's not appearing on youtube yet. Any other suggestions?

"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

Just watched the most recent REAPER and...I'm witholding judgment until they show where they are going with the gay/demon neighbors. I was afraid when Sam was walking in with the sanders going that they'd turn out to be some horrific form of serial killers, so the demon thing is almost an improvement. But I want to see where it goes from here.

I did adore Sock's total embrace of them, though.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

It was cute, but I feel like it came out of nowhere, like they're sort of making up his character as they go along and as it's convenient.

I can buy that it mostly came out of Sock enjoying so much that someone was still cooking for him. He's not really ready yet to be out on his own, which is why he dragged his friends with him.

Oh, what I was really referring to was his obsession with the Food Network and knowledge of cooking and love of appliances and all that. There's never been any indication of that, has there?

No, you're right there. Although, I could maybe handwave that he watched a lot of food network with his mom, and it's all just coming out now that he has had to move out.

Never fall in love with somebody you actually love.

Who is shut down, pretty much. They aren't coming back to shoot later this year as normal. They will return to shoot some stuff in some form, but, er, I'll shut up now as I'm not sure what the official line is.

Our wings are not tired.

I'll be sure to include a Christmas Special on my list to Santa. Want more many more years of Who.

We're very stretchy. - Connie Neil

Want more many more years of Who.

Yes, this please! I missed DW for those 17 years it was gone.

When reorganizing my videotapes this week, I found the tape on which I had the big Sylvester McCoy Dalek ep, the one where they go back to 1963 a month or so after the Hartnell Doctor left in the first episode.

Wow, talk about a dark ep! When Clive back in "Rose" said that the Doctor's one constant companion is death, he wasn't kidding. Lots of people dying in that Dalek ep, with the added bonus of human agents working with them for various reasons and even infiltrating the military and flirting with Ace before betraying her (asshole!). Also, you have the racism and sexism common back then for even more "fun" stuff.

The only good thing that happened in that ep was the meta-reference that they snuck in: Ace is bored and decides to watch the telly, turns it on, bangs it when the picture tube takes the standard forever to warm up, and then gets distracted by the "No Coloreds" sign in the boarding house window and turns off the TV just as the BBC announcer says, "...and welcome to the new science fiction show, Doc--" That was fun!
