Boxed Set, Vol. V: Just a Hint of Denial and a Dash of Retcon

A topic for the discussion of Doctor Who, Arrow, and The Flash. Beware possible invasions of iZombie, Sleepy Hollow, or pretty much any other "genre" (read: sci fi, superhero, or fantasy) show that captures our fancy. Expect adult content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.

Marvel superheroes are discussed over at the MCU thread.

Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.

Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.

This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

My sis and I both screamed "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" at the screen.

I WAS DOING THE SAME THING. Well, it was more like "Noooo, noooo, nooooo!"

And then, when she chased Marcy down and got all badass on her in the pool, I was cheering because she's such a badass!

She totally is! I don't want her to be evil! Nooooo.

I am reminded, however, that I way more into FF now than I am into V. FF has been really good since it came back.

hwæt

Bah. I think I'm done with FF. What a stupid asspull. Janis getting shot is not a clever way to deflect attention from her—it's a MORONIC way to deflect attention. I'm sure the writers never had any intention of making her the mole when she was shot.

For that matter, I'm not sure the writers had any intention of making her the mole three episodes ago, when she was Inspector Javert with Simon. We're now suddenly supposed to believe that they're in cahoots?

Yeah, it makes no sense, which is why I hope Steph is right about her being a TRIPLE AGENT. Also, her life expectancy is shorter with this alignment.

Danger is my middle name, only I spell it R. u. t. h. - Tina Belcher.

I'm gonna pretend that she knows, in a gut-level way, that the Hobbit is in cahoots with the people behind the blackout and she is playing him to get more info. In other words, she is still on the side of the good but is not very trusting of anyone, like she said about Marcie. I'm gonna believe, until proven wrong, that she is just very perceptive and cagey.

Oh, yeah, I like that. That she's just playing him, not pretending to be a double agent for an entire enemy group.

I am the fly who dreams of the spider

lazy Saturday morning, watching Chuck. Morgan made me laugh with his "Great! Now I hate this song!" And before that Casey made me whimper with his "Yeah, you too [enjoy my old life]."

And then throwing that issue of him killing equalling not being Her Chuck out the window because it wall All For Her. Smack. "You saved me!" Smack.

But hey, Mark Sheppard!

I really enjoyed io9's FF recap, entitled "This Week's FlashForward Was 60 Minutes Of Pure Nudity" in an attempt to help the ratings.

Some choice quotes:

It's never really explained how Mark made the jump from Somalia to chess opponents. The man truly is one of television's greatest off-camera savants, along with Urkel from Family Matters (remember, he invented a shrink ray).

3.) ICE absconds with Keiko after they find her working in a low-rider garage. This is a prime example of Flashforward's weirdly hyper-compressed storytelling. A cute, fish-out-of-water subplot about fixing cars how charming BAM DEPORTED.

Meanwhile back at the office, Vogel and Mark interrogate Janis - it turns out she's been investigating Marcie in her free time. Who's Marcie? Some who-cares minor character who goes outside and puts sugar in her coffee a lot. But Mark Benford pulls a Carnac the Magnificent and notices that HOLY CRAP MARCIE DOESN'T TAKE SUGAR IN HER COFFEE. Demetri and Mark determine that the sugar is a signal. They make confused eye contact with Marcie, and shit suddenly gets Peckinpah. She kills about a million FBI agents until Janice takes her down with pregnant karate.

Was this episode particularly good? Negatory. Was it loopy fun watching characters jump to insane conclusions and having their madness validated? Indeed. Will episodes of this quality bring back ratings? Probably not.

A turkey in every toilet -- only in America!

New Doctor Who: I'm glad they've stopped being cruel to the space-whale but how about their own people? Weren't they feeding grown-ups and misbehaving kids (after they'd grown up) to the whale?
