Huh. An American Dr. Who series makes zero sense. (Which does not mean it won't happen.) If they want an American show, why not a spinoff? The Doctor's granddaughter or someone. (She could stll be played with a British accent. She could just keep ending up in NY the way the Doctor keeps ending in London, and with American companions, and American accented villains. At least it would not be guaranteed fail. If it did fail it does not screw up the rest of the franchise.

A topic for the discussion of Doctor Who, Arrow, and The Flash. Beware possible invasions of iZombie, Sleepy Hollow, or pretty much any other "genre" (read: sci fi, superhero, or fantasy) show that captures our fancy. Expect adult content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.
Marvel superheroes are discussed over at the MCU thread.
Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.
Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.
This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.
I'm trying to imagine a reboot of the doctor. Like, a proper reboot, not a shot-in-the-arm restart like RTD did. He walked a fine line of making it interesting in its own right and mining decades of history--history that fans can acknowledge is schmaltz. I mean, can you introduce a Dalek in the 20th century?
And American...
I'm American and still have trouble imagining an American Doctor. I mean you could have a time travel series with a main character you call the Doctor but ...
If the original British Who had perished in the 60s, I could see doing an American reboot. But it makes no sense to me to do an American version while the original show is still going on and airing on American TV stations.
At least Being Human is relatively untested. But Doctor Who has legions of insane fans. Amongst whom I clearly number myself.
We've been watching them all in order this month, something I have been waiting to do since I got them for my birthday in August. I could never get the DH to watch them until now--he thought they were going to be twee. Last night was the Ghosts two-parter which was the end of the first Tennant season, and when it was over there was silence. I looked over at him and there were tears in his eyes and he said "Rose and the Doctor never get to see each other again?"
One toaster for me.
What did you tell him?
"The series goes a lot of interesting places. You gotta watch because I am revealing nothing."
You're nicer than I am. I have a smile-and-blink and "You know I never tell you shit, right?" response.
"The series goes a lot of interesting places. You gotta watch because I am revealing nothing."
BWAH! Did he call you evil to your face, or could you just see it in his eyes?
