A ghost? What's the deal? Is every frat on this campus haunted? And if so, why do people keep coming to these parties, cause it's not the snacks.

Boxed Set, Vol. V: Just a Hint of Denial and a Dash of Retcon

A topic for the discussion of Doctor Who, Arrow, and The Flash. Beware possible invasions of iZombie, Sleepy Hollow, or pretty much any other "genre" (read: sci fi, superhero, or fantasy) show that captures our fancy. Expect adult content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.

Marvel superheroes are discussed over at the MCU thread.

Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.

Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.

This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

she didn't really interested me, as a character

I think it's a really well done first season (they haven't aired past that in the States, and I never got around to acquiring it), and for one that's targeted at the youngest demographic still managed to work up a decent sense of peril.

And I always like seeing good parenting on TV. Parents saving the world--cool.

hwæt

Last week's Sarah Jane, the "Mona Lisa" serial, was pretty camp. I'm worried that it's commenced with the shark-jumping.

"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

BBCA is only tangentially part of the BBC - it's part of BBC Worldwide.

Ah, thanks. That explains that. I'm still a bit surprised no one is doing it. Then again, if everything that survived is on DVD, it may not be cost effective. I would guess that's why no one airs The Avengers, either. It doesn't explain why you've been able to see The Prisoner on TV pretty easily the last few years or so.

Frank, I don't think they ever explicitly said that Sarah Jane's feelings for the Doctor were more than platonic friendship back in the day. But it felt absolutely true to the character in "School Reunion" that she'd never married thanks to having met him.

OK, that was the impression I had as well, but as I said, it has been a while.

But the old Who episodes are never shown on the BBC proper either. I think they're scared of what they might do to their franchise.

(The new series, on the other hand, is shown over... and over... and over... and over....)

Somehow that doesn't surprise me as much (and agree on the reasoning you mention). It's just there are probably a ton of fans of the current iteration who've never seen any of the old ones in the US, so you'd think it would be a market. Bad as the special effects could be, I don't think they were that much worse than Trek: TOS. That may be the distance of time (heh) talking, though.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

They were on PBS round the clock when I was a kid.

Right now I think they're so high on the relative sophistication of the current Dr. Who that they might not want to remind people willy nilly of exactly how cheesy it could get--but if you're gung ho enough to look, you're definitely still the target market. It's just the casual fans that might be put off.

That was a regional thing, though. I never saw it until I got to college in MA, but I saw two full runs of The Prisoner when I was in grade school.

Calli: My people have a saying. A man who trusts can never be betrayed, only mistaken.Avon: Life expectancy among your people must be extremely short.

Local PBS station here runs old Dr. Who episodes at least two nights a week, four episodes a night.

They're going to try make Global Frequency again. CW, huh? Well, I want it to work, but I'm kind of attached to the original version, although it can never be continued.
