'War Stories'

Boxed Set, Vol. V: Just a Hint of Denial and a Dash of Retcon

A topic for the discussion of Doctor Who, Arrow, and The Flash. Beware possible invasions of iZombie, Sleepy Hollow, or pretty much any other "genre" (read: sci fi, superhero, or fantasy) show that captures our fancy. Expect adult content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.

Marvel superheroes are discussed over at the MCU thread.

Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.

Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.

This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.

But the old Who episodes are never shown on the BBC proper either. I think they're scared of what they might do to their franchise.

(The new series, on the other hand, is shown over... and over... and over... and over....)

Somehow that doesn't surprise me as much (and agree on the reasoning you mention). It's just there are probably a ton of fans of the current iteration who've never seen any of the old ones in the US, so you'd think it would be a market. Bad as the special effects could be, I don't think they were that much worse than Trek: TOS. That may be the distance of time (heh) talking, though.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

They were on PBS round the clock when I was a kid.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Right now I think they're so high on the relative sophistication of the current Dr. Who that they might not want to remind people willy nilly of exactly how cheesy it could get--but if you're gung ho enough to look, you're definitely still the target market. It's just the casual fans that might be put off.

That was a regional thing, though. I never saw it until I got to college in MA, but I saw two full runs of The Prisoner when I was in grade school.

Calli: My people have a saying. A man who trusts can never be betrayed, only mistaken.Avon: Life expectancy among your people must be extremely short.

Local PBS station here runs old Dr. Who episodes at least two nights a week, four episodes a night.

They're going to try make Global Frequency again. CW, huh? Well, I want it to work, but I'm kind of attached to the original version, although it can never be continued.

I'm trying to envision her on the CW (eta: I know WB became CW, but they're very different in my head), and failing. I'm also trying to envision GF without her, and failing at that too. Maybe they'll recast the whole thing with tween-friendly hunks and babes. Misha Barton is between jobs, right?

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

She tells Anna that Erica's son is the one, and they should use him. Anna tells her she's proud of her, to which she replies, "Thank you, mother." Dun dun DUN!!!

Thanks, P-C

Anyone else surprised the FBI was all, "Sure, aliens, you take the human shooter. No prob."? Granted, he turned out to be a V and the whole thing was a plot but I was like, "Whoah!"
