Will nobody help a sister out and describe the last couple of minutes of this past week's (BBCA broadcast) TW? My dvr cut it off. Maybe it was just a fade out?
Owen talks the girl out of committing suicide, using the rock (which turns out to be a benign message from alien cultures trying to make contact) to illustrate that there's more out there than we know, or some such. It was less trite than that, really. One of Owen's finer moments. Then he sits down with Tosh for a while, just talking.
Owen is up on the roof with suicide girl and he plays the alien device. He says that it's some aliens answer to the 1970s NASA message to outer space from Earth.
I can't recall what he says, but he plays the light show and convinces her to not jump.
And it ends on them on the roof pulling back to show the lights and the city.
BTW, who played suicide girl? She looked really familiar, and I'm thinking I've seen her on Doctor Who before. She reminded me of the girl who left the Big Brother house with the Doctor, or a less-refined Madame du Pompadour.
This must be suicide girl - in which case I should have recognized her from The Innocence Project.
She must just have a type of face that rings a bell with me, because I've not seen any of those shows listed on her IMDB entry. She really does have a strong resemblance to Mme. Pompadour, though.

I asked Moore about the rumor that Joss Whedon had been tentatively lined up to direct one of the final episodes of “Battlestar.” Moore confirmed that “Buffy” creator Whedon, a big fan of “Battlestar,” very much wanted to direct a “Battlestar” episode, but it looks as though he probably will not be able to do so, thanks to his commitment to a new Fox series, “Dollhouse.” “He really wanted to do it, but I’m dubious that it will work out,” Moore said.

Filmmaker John Dahl, who had been lined up to helm an episode before the strike, is still directing an episode of “Battlestar”: He’ll work on Episode 13.
Even in her old job, Gwen couldn't have said, "I'm going to be working long hours preparing a raid on a big drug ring operating on the wharf." Just the long hours part.
All these speculations about dynamic guns-blazing cop things are making me giggle a bit. Not to say that Cardiff doesn't have a problem with drugs (I'm sure they do), but I keep remembering Gwen's nice blond partner in that first ep: "They should do CSI: Cardiff! It's be all about measuring the velocity of a flying kebab!"
Also, I'm so glad to hear Rhys is getting some love! I do heart Rhys enormously. (...er, my mental image of him tends to be as he's drumming out a tune on his arse, while meandering out the room butt-nekkid.) And, yes - much like my love for The Chief! (Except The Chief has a bit of SpyDaddyesque Do-Not-Fuck-With-Me going on, along with the whole cuddly teddybear thing, which is also v. v. v. hot.)
