Boxed Set, Vol. V: Just a Hint of Denial and a Dash of Retcon

A topic for the discussion of Doctor Who, Arrow, and The Flash. Beware possible invasions of iZombie, Sleepy Hollow, or pretty much any other "genre" (read: sci fi, superhero, or fantasy) show that captures our fancy. Expect adult content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.

Marvel superheroes are discussed over at the MCU thread.

Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.

Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.

This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

Ha! Mark, Olivia, and Simcoe just TOTALLY had a

"Brad!"
"Janet!"
"Dr. Scott!"
"Janet!"
"Rocky!"
"Dr. Scott!"

moment, there. Without words, though. All eye contact.

"I make mistakes, but I am on the side of Good," the Golux said, "by accident and happenchance.” – The 13 Clocks, James Thurber

I just read the article about the American adaptation of Being Human and came to the sentence that says

Syfy is targeting a launch in summer or fall 2010 and eyeing the series as a potential companion piece to breakout hit "Sanctuary," which deals with similar subject matter.

And how is this in any way a similar subject matter to Sanctuary, other than the fact that they're both fantasy shows? Has the writer even seen either of the shows?

Danger is my middle name, only I spell it R. u. t. h. - Tina Belcher.

Maybe they meant to remake Primeval? That is very like Sanctuary!

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Sanctuary deals with the lives of people born mythological, not normal. The big important difference is that we're seeing them from the outside.

If it's a companion to Sanctuary, what goes with SGU?

Jesus, Tep, that sharing a brain thing is scary. Lewis and I were watching it on the DVR and when we got to that moment, I paused and said the EXACT same thing to him and I hadn't been in here yet.

I was yelling at the television "Be a man, Mark!" when Lloyd held out his hand to shake.

I thought the Mark/Olivia breakup was too forced. I thought he had every reason to be freaked, but the escalation didn't work for me.

Noh continues to rock. I continue to suspect he'll father Janis's child. I hope they don't sleep together, though.

"We're all stories, in the end. Just make it a good one, eh?"

I am worried that The Plan sounds rubbish (even without reading spoiler font). Will it make me terribly sad to watch it? I am so committed to BSG that I didn't even hate the finale...

apparently SyFyWhy has ordered a 13 ep remake of Being Human.

That's annoying. Most BBC remakes aren't that good. BH is excellent already and doesn't need an American remake.

Still, at least they haven't proposed remaking Doctor Who.

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

If you didn't hate the finale, you might not mind "The Plan." The most favorable description of "The Plan" I read was by the guy at Time Magazine who described it as extraneous. He likened it to a DVD commentary track from the cylon point of view.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

I loved the finale (while simultaneously shouting at it), and The Plan was unbelievably disappointing. I was hoping we'd learn something new, but it was just a 2-hour clip show.

It did seem to come a little too quickly, but Olivia hit one thing absolutely square on, and that was that Mark was projecting his fears onto her and expecting the worst while being less than honest himself. And from that standpoint, I can totally buy that she would have a knee-jerk reaction and say there wasn't any way she could go through this again.
