Boxed Set, Vol. V: Just a Hint of Denial and a Dash of Retcon

A topic for the discussion of Doctor Who, Arrow, and The Flash. Beware possible invasions of iZombie, Sleepy Hollow, or pretty much any other "genre" (read: sci fi, superhero, or fantasy) show that captures our fancy. Expect adult content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.

Marvel superheroes are discussed over at the MCU thread.

Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.

Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.

This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.

Amanda Tapping and Ming Na get them my viewership for the pilot. I suspect I'll have long since quit by the time the episodes dealing with the skeevier aspects of body-swapping air.

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

If Amanda Tapping is on Stargate:Whatever, does that mean Sanctuary is cancelled? I'm a bad fan.

I haven't trusted science since I saw the film "Flubber."

I'm sure she's just helping launch the new series. Sanctuary did get a second season.

Well, I'm glad. There was potential there. The stories weren't bad, and the acting wasn't bad, it just hadn't really gelled, for me. Maybe it'll find its legs.

Shallow: Is Tapping a natural blonde, or brunette?

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I can't lie. I want to peek. But I'm mad for the first time at the idea of my DVR being counted.

Thankfully I'm DVR-less, so unless someone from Nielsen drops by unexpectedly my watching can't give the asshats at Bridge Studios any ratings points.

"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

I read a good review of the new Stargate in the Boston Globe, who usually doesn't dole out pro forma superlatives. Not sure what that means as I haven't watched it, but they commented on the unusually good cast.

That may chap my ass a bit about the retroactive lack of respect for Browder and Black at least (I'm afraid since I barely watched SG, that any of the other actor's creds are a mystery to me).

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Maureen Ryan describes it as more like BSG than SG1 or SGA: [link] I barely trusted RTD to do BSG (and in the end felt let down). I'm not sure I'd let the SG people at it. They're jettisoning the things I enjoyed about the previous SG incarnations for "grit."

But I'm trainwreck curious. And I'm sure it'll do decent numbers.

A friend of mine who watched it also made the BSG comparison. That didn't make me any more inclined to watch it.

And if it is good and stays good, I can always get it later.

Sanctuary starts next week, I think.
