I remember the crazy days. 500 posts an hour. Nubmer! Natgbsb

I do too! When I worked at a bar one summer we would start the day by fixing ourselves a basket each of fried zucchini, spicy fries, and cheese fries and then dip them all in ranch.

I went years with no ranch in my life, but in the last 2 years it has crept back in.

"I keep to a strict diet of ill-advised enthusiasm and heartfelt regret." Leigh Bardugo

Ranch is the yum. Fresh and Easy makes a heavily dill based ranch which rocks. So good.

"Cry havoc and let slip the boobs of war!" -- Miracleman

yes. but the low fat stuff is an abomination. They use HFCS in order to make up for the lack of fat, so it's too sweet. and still pretty caloric.

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

I have the book that that list was based on, and there is some very scary stuff in it and also some surprisingly healthy alternatives. I wonder if one could make a ranch dressing with low fat greek yogurt that would taste good.

I’m responsible for my own happiness? I can’t even be responsible for my own breakfast! (Bojack Horseman)

mmm, greek yogurt.

I'm sure that you could. It's the creaminess factor as much as the taste when eating the fries with the dressing.

Compassionately intolerant

Back in the day, the 'rents would get powdered dip mixes from Hickory Farms that you could add to whatever base you chose. Now, they were probably just sugar and salt, with some dehydrated veggies thrown in for show, but I remember really liking them.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

They use HFCS in order to make up for the lack of fat,

And xantham gum for texture & mouthfeel. full body shudder

Give me ACTUAL FAT any day of the week.

  • de-lurks*. Another newbie branching out into a whopping two threads. Hi everyone, just sneaking over from the SPN thread to see what the latest natter was. I like too many shows to haunt only one thread so here I am.

I am new to boards so wanted to drop in a *wave* and toss in my thoughts on Ranch: deliciously evil heart attack in a plastic bottle that will most likely cause my partner to die before me due to his addiction. Still, when I do break down and eat it I stick to the real thing. Low fat food is even more evil than Ranch!

It's five thousand for kissing, ten thousand for snuggling... End of list.

I wonder if one could make a ranch dressing with low fat greek yogurt that would taste good.

I was just about to say that Fage nonfat is really thick and creamy and IMO makes a good sour cream substitute. I would think that some ranch dressing powder mixed in wouldn't be that bad for you.
