- de-lurks*. Another newbie branching out into a whopping two threads. Hi everyone, just sneaking over from the SPN thread to see what the latest natter was. I like too many shows to haunt only one thread so here I am.
I am new to boards so wanted to drop in a *wave* and toss in my thoughts on Ranch: deliciously evil heart attack in a plastic bottle that will most likely cause my partner to die before me due to his addiction. Still, when I do break down and eat it I stick to the real thing. Low fat food is even more evil than Ranch!
I wonder if one could make a ranch dressing with low fat greek yogurt that would taste good.
I was just about to say that Fage nonfat is really thick and creamy and IMO makes a good sour cream substitute. I would think that some ranch dressing powder mixed in wouldn't be that bad for you.

I can confidently say that it makes one of the best spinach dips I've even had. So tasty.
I even have some nonfat Fage in my bag right now. I just need to get up and get some fruit to have with it, and it's fruit and cream.
here's a recipe for ranch dressing, using dried herbs, mayo and sour cream. Hellman's reduced fat mayo is pretty good, and with a fat free yogurt, this could work -- [link]

You can make ranch dressing with mayonnaise and buttermilk. You don't really need the sour cream.
I love the ranch dressing powdered mix exactly because you can mix it with whatever -- yogurt, sour cream, mayo, etc. I usually use a mix of those + some milk/cream, depending on what I want to use it for.
I have never been so grateful for my aversion to sour cream as when reading that article.
I do think that the Japanese fugu chefs have an edge on Outback in terms of worst food for you, however, as Aussie cheese fries are unlikely to kill you before you can get up from the table.
