Hey, ND, I'm not even close to being able to afford to think about buying your car. But that's exactly the sort of thing I wish I were in the market for. With the move to the new house, it gets pretty muddy out on those roads just during winter, I can't imagine what it's going to be like during monsoon. So I'd love to have something more 4wd than our AWD van. But we still need storage space to haul us and the dog and our gear around. In general I wish I were in the market for a more efficient vehicle but the reality is I probably need a less efficient vehicle to be able to handle the rougher roads.
Anyway. All that is to say, how does it handle? How does it do for hauling gear? What do you actually find you get as far as mileage?
If you don't mind answering someone who's totally not going to buy your vehicle, much as she wants to. Heh.
Did I mention that some of the skull brads are pink?
Argh argh argh! Do not tempt me with pink skully things! I must save my money for custom clothing to wear to upcoming gothy-goth events!
Well, you know that I've also always been a big fan of jumping at an opportunity.
I know this well.
Two years is a while to wait around. In that respect I've always been a pretty big risk taker though. I've moved on short notice and grabbed projects that were probably out of my league and then held on for dear life.
I'm going to put my resume out and see what happens. If something came my way I'd be stupid not to make the jump. The situation in 2 years will be there if I am at my current position or not. It's true that 2 years is a while to wait. That's the part that is driving me nuts!
I saw pink skully things and the mention of purple as well! Oriental Trading, why do you do this to me??? The urge to order is strong and I promised myself paying off the credit card from grad school is priority this year.
But Jilli! Cute! I'll buy you the damn brads!

Also, I feel wicked cheated for not throwing Kat a baby shower, given these: [link]
Seriously.
They still have a birthday coming up...
Sad to hear about Renfro, but I can't say I'm surprised by the news.

I have the FWD not the AWD version of the Escape, but I've been very happy with it. I purchased it to get the good gas mileage (I've gotten around 31 MPG on it for most of the time I've had it) and to have something big enough to haul gear in. The seats in the back fold down flat and I've had it fully loaded many many times. It's got about the same power as a V6 Escape, so it's decent acceleration and the handling and ride is pretty good as well. It's a touch on the noisy side at highway speeds, but nothing really all the horrible. The only reason I'm getting rid of it is because I don't want to drive an SUV if I don't have to and since I bought a half ton GMC about 6 months ago for my business I use that strictly for work and for any gear I need to move. The Escape has been replaced by a fun little 2005 Mercedes.
