whoa--- how did that work

I've seen that happen before! (er, as described. Can't youtube from here) Desert floods are like that. What's freaky is when it never even rains where you are and it happens! When there is a good gully washer at my parents', everyone in the neighborhood has to go collect their water meter covers from the base of the street. Everyone has had to redo their landscaping on the street using large rocks because anything smaller than grapefruits (or god forbid, grass) gets washed out. And they don't even live in a official drainage area.
Some of the new developments are going up in known arroyos. That's just insane. If I were choosing land or a new house out there, I'd hie myself to the county office to look up the floodplain maps first thing.
Whoa! Unreal that people continued driving along next to that thing.
What is this Rambo 27? I don't think I watched the last couple.
Some kind of storm sewer backup -- there's lightning on the video. I feel especially sorry for the driver who gets caught out in the second spurt.
I'm beginning to suspect that 2008 is going to be my year of the universe's petty revenge.
Oh shrift, I hope not!
Oh shrift, I hope not!
It's only been six days, so I'm not going to call it just yet, but I'm giving 2008 the stink eye.
I have to go back to work tomorrow. I don't think I want to just yet. I'm ready to start on the musical, but I don't want to teach classes. They're just a distraction to doing the play!
I feel like crap, and may not go to work tomorrow, but I really feel like I should, since 2/3 of my staff is coming back after two weeks off and we should check in! I guess I can email and stuff. Bleh.
Oh, the new American Gladiators is on. AWESOME.

This type of situation is exactly what email was made for, IMO. You can stay home in warm slippers and a fuzzy robe and still check in with your staff. Done. Besides, you don't want to infect your coworkers.
