Well, not sure what is happening in town now. K-Bug and her team are off to Livermore for their game. I'm still at work with my trainee who leaves this evening. I keep checking the news wire to see if there is anything new.
These cuts are across the state. Is our school district just the first to make plans for dealing with them? The mind boggles that this is an isolated thing.
Today I did....
...not much. Job was boring. Phone calls few. Assignments easy and quickly accomplished.
So, why do I have a splitting headache?
I was just checking into see how vw's meeting went. So glad to hear it went well.
I took Ellie and Frisco on the "train" ( its like an above ground subway) today with a friend andnher daughter. We rode to the end and back, got ice cream, and then played with bubbles. It was really fun.
Good job for K-bug! I wish her all the best in her fight.
Teaching here in Florida is a constant struggle. They keep talking about improving the system but add the most awful expectations. I spend more and more time on things that don't aid my students but make my administration "look good". I'm tired of the constant threat of cuts to my program. They have made it clear the arts aren't important. I'd like to see what would happen if someone suggested cutting football or cheerleading (both of whom get new uniforms every year). My students and I have to beg for every cent we get. In the last 2 years my budget has been cut by over 500 dollars. I worry about what will happen to these kids when they try to go to college.

Me: Because I like iced coffee in the afternoon.
A: What kind of coffee is it?
Me: It’s blueberry iced coffee.
A: Can I smell it?
Me: Sure! What does it smell like?
A: It smells like you! Miss Val, you’re made of blueberry coffee!
I can’t say she’s too far off on that one…

So, as Nora said, my meeting went amazingly well, and the department chair is following up on it and will continue to do so. I go back and forth about how I feel about knowing there have been other complaints about the student. On one hand, it’s very validating. On the other hand, I want to know why the prof had to go digging to find that out. At any rate, there is now more evidence to keep an eye on him, so… And now I’m walking away from it.
Thank you for having Nora update us, vw. It is no surprise that there were other complaints. It was completely implausible that he only acted this way with you. Yes, you have done the right thing for the school, now the right thing for you is to put it behind you.

Someone tell me something happy to inspire me?I'm home. Have been for some time. Been skimming and snoozing while watching recorded Yankee game from this morning. Yay baseball is back! The tests went well. No drugs were used that can kill me, which was my big fear, being put to sleep and all. Much happier now. They took some samples, and observed too much acid in my stomach, so gave a prescription for Aciphex. But what ever they took samples of does *NOT* appear to ba tumor/cancer types of things. So ... YAY!
Key KT, I'm hopeing to have some time this weekend. Maybe we can chat, watch a dvd and chill a bit? Have to play it by ear tho.
