Oh, yeah. There was this time I was pinned down by this guy that played left tackle for varsity... Well, at least he used to before he was a vampire... Anyway, he had this really, really thick neck, and all I had was a little, little Exact-O knife ... You're not loving this story.

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Someone tell me something happy to inspire me?

Just for Kristin…a conversation I had with one of my four-year-olds

A: Miss Val, why do you bring cold coffee to school?

Me: Because I like iced coffee in the afternoon.

A: What kind of coffee is it?

Me: It’s blueberry iced coffee.

A: Can I smell it?

Me: Sure! What does it smell like?

A: It smells like you! Miss Val, you’re made of blueberry coffee!

I can’t say she’s too far off on that one…

Also for Kristin, hugs and ~ma for the kitties.

Oh, PC. Sucky! Hugs!

I have a callback for 'Tis Pity She's A Whore in Bezerkely on Saturday. The location poses its own problems, but hey! Callback!

Yay!

Suzi, it's on CNN RIGHT NOW!

Holy shit! Go baby activists!

I took Ellie and Frisco on the "train" ( its like an above ground subway) today with a friend andnher daughter. We rode to the end and back, got ice cream, and then played with bubbles. It was really fun.

Oh, that sounds fun! Yay for a day out!

So, as Nora said, my meeting went amazingly well, and the department chair is following up on it and will continue to do so. I go back and forth about how I feel about knowing there have been other complaints about the student. On one hand, it’s very validating. On the other hand, I want to know why the prof had to go digging to find that out. At any rate, there is now more evidence to keep an eye on him, so… And now I’m walking away from it.

Our wings are not tired.

Thank you for having Nora update us, vw. It is no surprise that there were other complaints. It was completely implausible that he only acted this way with you. Yes, you have done the right thing for the school, now the right thing for you is to put it behind you.

Hmmm, do I smell blueberries?

eta grammar that works

We're all getting played with, babe. -Weird Barbie

Thanks, everyone.

I wish, too we lived closer. I'd offer to grab some take out and DVD's and spend some time hanging out.
Want!

I don't have a lot of "hanging out" friends in LA (sometimes because of working opposite schedules), which bums me out sometimes. But I have so many good people in my life that I feel very lucky.

Also, I'm so sorry that you're dealing with such obnoxiousness about your (very important!) work.

vw, that is a totally adorable story.

I'm home. Have been for some time. Been skimming and snoozing while watching recorded Yankee game from this morning. Yay baseball is back! The tests went well. No drugs were used that can kill me, which was my big fear, being put to sleep and all. Much happier now. They took some samples, and observed too much acid in my stomach, so gave a prescription for Aciphex. But what ever they took samples of does *NOT* appear to ba tumor/cancer types of things. So ... YAY!

Key KT, I'm hopeing to have some time this weekend. Maybe we can chat, watch a dvd and chill a bit? Have to play it by ear tho.

Connie, continued ~ma for your DH. I know how ugg that blockage feels.

Yay for callback!

I missed k-bug activism! what did I skim/snooze past?

Just call me "Siouxsie Shunshine".

I don't have a lot of "hanging out" friends in LA (sometimes because of working opposite schedules), which bums me out sometimes. But I have so many good people in my life that I feel very lucky.

Change that to FL and you have described my life.

Also, I'm so sorry that you're dealing with such obnoxiousness about your (very important!) work.

Thank you so much. It helps to know there are people out there that understand and think my job has value.

almost forgot, my local NPR is doing a giveaway for a Macbook Air today. So I gave a little booster cash to my membership so I could be entered into the drawing. :: crosses fingers ::

My cousin's oldest son (I think he's 10) just got his own e-mail address, and he has taken to e-mailing me to tell me I should come visit and asking how school is going and stuff. It's so adorable.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

I just got an email that another grad student and I are co-winners of our department's outstanding grad student prize this year! Email says,

More important than the cash award that goes with this prize is the recognition that it represents; also, this is a very nice item to have on your CV when you apply for jobs.

No mention of how much the cash prize is, though.
