Ironic note re voting (at least I think it's ironic) - on the radio this morning they were announcing that you could still vote absentee in the upcoming "Chesapeake" primary (Maryland, Virginia, DC). But only if you went in to the election office, got the absentee ballot, and hand-delivered it to them. Um ... absentee?

not your mom's socks.

ugh, Sox. Is this someone you got through an agency or something?

yes - what's killing me is that we've asked for her a couple times when Iris was sick, and she babysat off hours 2x last fall. iris really likes her. I'm all for someone taking a lunch break (though what she would do if I wasn't here, I've no idea) - but this isn't cool.

Yesterday, I covered the morning shift and DH took afternoon (she napped for a couple hours of it, lucky dog); the day before, I took afternoon shift. Today, we decided we had to call for help because hello? working makes teh billz gets paid. So now I think it's a combo of I need to get my work brain on and and wtf lady?

Compassionately intolerant

Todd, it really is crazy around here!

I was out tabling this Saturday at the Market and one of the local political luminaries came by. He said they'd been out polling and discovered that only 1 in 5 people knew that our primary is NEXT Tuesday, the 12th. 1 in 5...and this election actually counts for us!! At least where delegates are concerned...which is a damn sight more than we've had before...so yeah, VOTE DC! dammit.

We had only one person say anything negative on Saturday...in fact, the interest was staggering, people literally begging for bumperstickers, tshirts and signs.

On the other hand, several of the people who came by with the most enthusiasm were Internationals...I guess they just represent a global community that wants the US to catch a clue.

Why isn't everyone pelting me with JOY, dammit? - Zenkitty

Epic, I have a bit of experience to share.

Thanks, Java. Mom's apparently got a Degenerative Disk thing (and some sort of Drama at her Thoracic Vertebrae, just to keep things interesting) this time, not the return of the Stenosis. But that article is Good Info To Have, both for her and me, because I'm developing Stenosis too, just 30 years behind her. Hopefully by the time I'm looking at surgery that spacer doohickey (or whatever next gen thing replaces it) will be SOP. I saved your other comments to send on to her, too, because, as I mentioned, it's good if people beyond me reassure her.

W00t, CaBil & Sail! Yay for good news!

Yay for new computers, bonny! It's good to see you here! Are you finally over the Ick?

And yes on House. I'm not even a big fan of the slashtastic, but Damn, TheirLove really is SoPure, isn't it?

Vortex, you've moved recently so you have some excuse ... but at least you know there's a primary (right? you did, didn't you?).

There was a mini-rally for Obama just up the street from me this past Saturday. They had a little parade before - cars going down the street, honking horns, waving signs. Led by a car with salsa music going full blast. Also followed by a bunch of really impatient people who weren't part of the "parade" but were trying to get across town.

Punishingly Intricate

Not in MD. You needed to request an absentee ballot by 4pm (if requesting by writing) or 11:59 (if requesting by fax) yesterday. But your actual ballot has to be postmarked before or on 2/12 and received no later than, like, a week after 2/12.

(I researched it for someone yesterday.)

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I need my head removed so the pain goes away.

It's hard to get insurance to cover this.
