In 2 hours 15 minutes the school day will be over and the students will be out until January 9. They are more than a little nuts today.
I won't get to leave until at least 4:30, though. My Drama officers are having Secret Santa gift exchange right after school and then the rest of the Drama club is having a "White Elephant Gift exchange"/Christmas gathering.
Can the day be over already?????
So, for folks who don't normally get New Years Eve off, are you getting it off this year (because New Years Day is on Tuesday)?
I have work to do. I have Cheetos.
Guess which one I want?

Yes. Also Christmas Eve Day.
Not me, I have to be here on the 31st. Yay?

And next year, because of leap year, I get the days off after Xmas and New Year's (Thur/Fri) AND get out of work at 2 on both the eves. Though I will probably be taking both the eve's off anyway.
I'll be working on Dec 24, but I took the day off on Jan 31, as I'll be in San Francisco.
It's a week past the last (non-law school) finals and the office is open but man, we are pretty close to deserted. But we have off all next week and the 31st and 1st.
Oh, I have a question for the hivemind. Can someone out there tell me why some people must have a gift card design that matches the little freebie envelope that they want to put it in? I've had a few customers at the bookstore who were starting to freak out over the fact that the only holiday card design we had left (until we sold out of those last night) didn't match the envelope's design. I just @@@ forever as they leave.
I am so not looking forward to this weekend at the bookstore. Ugh, this is why I stopped working Waldenbooks back in 2002, because I didn't want to do any more Retail Christmases.
My most senior boss (if you could call GWB my boss, since I loathe him and he doesn't know I exist) cheerfully violated the First Amendment and gave us the 24th off; I rather doubt we'll also get the 31st off--to be entirely cynical, the 1st isn't considered a religious holiday by most of the country (even though it's a holy day in the Catholic church).
I'm a bit pissy about the First Amendment thing, but rather happy not to have to use a vacation day for Monday's cleaning and baking.
