Calli: My people have a saying. A man who trusts can never be betrayed, only mistaken.Avon: Life expectancy among your people must be extremely short.

I made the couscous, with some paranoid extra precautions (disposable gloves and face mask). By the time I finished cooking I wasn't really up to attending a party. But it was nearby, so I dropped of the dish - which they were appreciated because they were short of vegan main dishes.

(I make this curried couscous thing which kind of evolved over the years into something more and more elaborate. It now contains couscous, garbanzo beans, a tiny amount of peas and carrots to add add color and sweetness, walnuts, cashews, almonds, raisins, green peppers, onions - flavored with curry power, cardoman, garlic, olive oil and broth. Normally I use chicken broth, but since that is the only animal ingredient in it and I knew there would a fair number of vegans I substituted a decent vegetable broth -- adding salt because the veggie broth was lower salt than the chicken broth I normally use. The flavor was fine. Because of the using a dark veggie broth the color was this dark beige I associate with a certain kind of hippie food instead of the bright yellow it normally is. )

The people from the party dropped off a chocolate cake they had made to celebrate my Birthday. There is no way in hell I will want cake over the next few days; I'm pretty sure I won't want anything but hot liquids. They should have kept the cake for the party, but there is no polite way to say so. I'll keep a few slices for eating and sharing when I feel better (freezing them if that takes more than a few days), and give the rest to a friend or the local community center.

Our wings are not tired.

Evil Draconian Devil Principal...

Amused because yesterday's word of the day was draconian.

he looks like a piece of carrot cake. (too white hair, orange skin and starched within an inch of his life)

Our Governor is your Principal! So sorry.

I'm watching Snow Globe on ABC Family. The characters are kinda adorable.

eta: Oh it just got more fun since Delores Herbig from Dead Like Me is in it too. (sorry don't know actress name)

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

Heh, I totally know the actress by that name, too.

Brenda, I was puzzled as to why you were so cheered that you got asked to catsit. I mean, those must be really super kitties to be around....

I had a good day, notwithstanding the fact that I spent most of it at a programming class, but it went fast and was full of moments where I! Understood! Stuff!. It helps that we're learning to do in Java what we've already covered in C#, and also that Java is way more explicit. But in general, my brain seemed to be on its best behavior in a while.

Or the stuff I'm supposed to be learning is actually sinking in. Whatever.

Just call me "Siouxsie Shunshine".

Our Governor is your Principal! So sorry.

He does look a little like the Governor. (I think the principal supports the governor and his policies, too.)

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

Instead of grading papers for school I contracted a serious case of "grade avoidance syndrome"

Same thing happened to me. I spent the day playing Super Mario Galaxy and napping.

What I did today? Sat in a car for 10 hours with an 8 month old baby. Fed, diapered, played with, fed, diapered, played with and one more time with said baby. Got to a hotel in Provo, UT.

We're headed to Idaho Falls, where the highs this week were in the teens. I hate cold weather.

I've been following that story with increasing anger since last spring, and I can't believe the level of ineptitude. I'm so sorry you're being so royally screwed over, Kat.

Thanks, Krsitin. I can't believe the fuckedassedness of the union on this one. The whole thing makes me sick.

Well, another friend came over with like a week's supply of homemade chicken soup. Between that and canned goods, I can avoid further cooking until I'm better.
