It's good to have cargo. Makes us a target for every other scavenger out there, though, but sometimes that's fun too.

Thanks, tommyrot and Hil. I'm not worried about a laptop for me or my sized hands. But I was thinking about how cool it would be if I could get a parent org here to release funds for about 20 of them and then donate the 20 they receive to the school.

I'm also thinking about donating one and using the one I get for my day care woman's son who just toasted his used laptop. He's 7... I wonder if it would be an okay replacement.

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

I saw it, Empress!

And now I want one of those computers. Dude.

Anyone watch Private Practice last night?

I watched a few minutes of it with the intent to watch Dirty Sexy Money afterwards, but it hit me like 100mgs of Demerol. Did anything happen after Addison and Joe Hackett decided that they shouldn't make out anymore ?

Shit's all sorts of different now.

Private Practice: in the scene where Violet was naked and Cooper was getting naked, the body double for Violet was TOTALLY A DUDE! I mean, it *had* to be, or Amy B. has a very masculine looking body.

Matt, the whole rest of the episode happened! That was only like ten minutes into the show!

Coding and Sleeping

wanted to know if any of you have any info on the laptop itself?

It is a bit of an appliance, it runs Linux (a modified Fedora Core OS) so no iTunes, and additional software is limited to Linux. There's lots of software for Linux, but I doubt the OLPC is designed to add much. The specs aren't really sufficient to run a full featured Linux desktop in any event. OTOH, no serious threats from malware.

It's a cool piece of hardware though, I'd buy one just to have an ultra efficient laptop for travel and Internet access around the house. I don't think it would be very good if it was your sole computer.
