I'd argue that though we saw the Arnold Terminator naked in the first movie, the overall image was one of strength, which is clearly not the intention with the Summer Terminator.
Other people are entitled to disagree, of course, though I'd rather not be called a tinhat who sees misogynistic conspiracy theories.
Even though I think all robots are scary, the 1/4 profile does seem to indicate vulnerability. With all four posters together (vote for your favorite!) I get the feeling that the force to be reckoned with is not the Terminator but Sarah Conner. edit: but that's because of her big damn gun and not her noticeably missing Linda Hamilton arms of power. I wonder if the mood they're going with for the Summer Glau posters is "poor little robot".
I've seen the pilot, and that certainly doesn't fit her character.
agreed, P-C. she's pretty badass.
Dana, I never read boxed set so I can't comment on the posts there. I was referring to my annoyance of some of the posts at whedonesque. The fourth poster in the series is made of awesome (and definitely going up on my wall at work). Funny how no one comments on that one.

Yeah, I know. I'm just saying, I don't think it's a tinhat theory. I haven't seen the Whedonesque posts, so I can't comment on how crazy other people might be.
I haven't seen the pilot, but it's good to hear that Summer's good in it. It'll be nice to have something new to watch once Heroes goes off the air. I just wish the marketing didn't disturb me quite so much.
I hate it when I hit the backspace, end up at a completely different page, and lose my whole post. Hmpf.
To recreate:
For me, the Summer pics are stunning but disappointing, because Terminator is not about sex, but love and power. I will reserve judgement on the show, though. My guess is that I'll be okay with them as long as they draw viewers to a good show. If I don't like the show, that I'll probably have a different take on it.
About Wednesday, I know AnotherAlaskan can't make it this week. How many others can't who would like to?
eta: Just saw the fourth picture. I love it. In my opinion, it makes up for the others. But it's probably helpful for me not to put this in the middle of a post, huh.
I think one (and only one) of the posters is open to a negative interpretation. That also seems to be the poster that is getting the most attention. Gee, I wonder why Fox put that one out? It might have something to do with their target demo of hormone overdosed young men.
What I am saying is that the promotion is attention getting (as it should be), but from all indications the show itself does not follow the same vein.
I guess I just see it as judging a book by its cover and a whole lot of to do over nothing.
It certainly wouldn't be the first time that promotional materials completely misrepresented the product they were promoting. I'm lookin' at you
The Last Boyscout!

I was just remembering an old
Friends
ad, from before it was on. They were all standing around in their underwear talking about how them standing around in their underwear was just a publicity stunt, and they really wouldn't be on the show. And then one (I think Jennifer Aniston, but I'm sure) said something like, 'we won't be standing around in our underwear, right?'
It sounds like this is something like that, without the humor.
