Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.
You notice despite all his talk about honorable deaths and killing yourself if you fail in your job, he's still standing at the end. He doesn't do the "honorable" thing and kill himself.
Given what he said to Mal at the end, I always thought he was going off to commit suicide.
Anyone else read The Shepherd's Tale? Since Joss was involved, I think it's canon.

It was really hard for me to accept the antagonistic relationship between Mal and Simon in the movie, because by the end of the series they had come to a much better standing. Not that they were best buddies or anything, but they were much friendlier than this.
