Embrace the idea that we are the leaders we've been looking for. Grace Lee Boggs

For years, I've been tempted to switch to big basic cable to get SciFi and Comedy Central. SyFy has almost completely cured me of this desire, despite continued interest in some of their shows.

Thanks, SyFy, for changing your name and saving me money!

The more I learn, the more I realize how little I know.

Ha!

Firefly shout-out on The Big Bang Theory tonight.

Art Crawl!!!

Read this over at Scifiwire:

@NASA Shuttle crew awoke @4:14pET to theme song from "Firefly." The Ballad of Serenity, performed by Sonny Rhodes, was played for Bob Behnken.

omnis, pursue. That's an order from a shy woman who can use M-16. - Shir

sweet! That's awesome.

So I lent my DVD's to my boss. His wife is a huge sci-fi fan. Haven't heard what she thinks of them. But, since it's been nearly a month, and haven't gotten them back, I hope that's a good sign, and not that they are sitting there not being watched.

"It didn't taste good. It tasted soooo horrible. It tasted like....a vodka martini." - Matilda

Here's a recording of the theme and conversation afterwards: [link]

Transcript:

CAPCOM Shannon Lucid: Good morning Endeavour. And a special good morning to you today, Bob.

Mission Specialist Bob Behnken: Well thank you, Shannon. And a special good morning back to you guys down in Houston for helping us out so much yesterday for a successful EVA 1. And I'd also just like to say that both on Endeavour and on the ISS, there is a little piece of Serenity for each of us who are fans of the Firefly series. Thanks.

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

I finally got my BFF to watch Firefly. She mainlined it today and now she's all "How did I miss this!?!" and I'm all "Told ya!"

Love is stronger than death and harder than sorrow. Those who practice it are fierce like the light of stars traveling eons to pierce the night.

Ah, poor Zenkitty's BFF. Now she can mourn with the rest of us. Maybe someday, a video feed from the universe where it got more seasons than Stargate: SG1 will fall through to our reality.

when i die, please bake my ashes into a brick and use me to hit fascists.

Heh, a guy at work borrowed my keys the other day and commented about my Serenity keychain. Turns out he liked the movie but hasn't seen the show. I told him it was BETTER. (and also showed that I was still bitter 8 years later...) I love that we can STILL keep converting people to this show!

"Oh no! Has falling sky liquid once again caused you the sadness?" -Starfire

It's been 8 years?! Wow... that's shocking to me!

And I keep converting people too! They always thank me after they get addicted and then we get all bitter together that it was canceled.

Hehe... I converted my boyfriend as well with my DVD set, and when we had a coupon someplace, he insisted we get the blue ray set. I fell in love with him a little more because of that!

Oh, and Gina Torres needs to be a major tv or movie star right now. I don't understand why she's not yet!
