Again, Mal's whole "Simon and River are part of my crew, and my crew mean everything to me" mentality is jarring when considered against his perspective in the movie. I wish that transition had been done a little more smoothly.

that's a good point, Morgana. Maybe because he didn't have a cause bigger than his crew before he saw Miranda.
